Re: Horn and cruise control

I checked under the hood and under the dash and did not find any loose connectors. Searching the internet for similar problems I see several people on various Ford forums describing a bad clock spring (clockspring?). Many of them have the same problem - no cruise, no horn, and no known problem with ...

Re: Horn and cruise control

I have the same problem on a 1998 B190. I'll certainly look for that connector although my layout may be different since the year model is not the same as the OP. I'll take a look and post the results.

Re: Sway Bar Installation.....

I checked the tire inflation and compared it to the information on the driver door jamb. Door jamb says 80 rear and 55 front. Mine were 80 rear with one front at 80 and the other front at 55. Who knows how that happened? I corrected the front inflation and will be driving the van again today. The da...

Re: Sway Bar Installation.....

The sway bar is installed and I test drove the van. I noticed some improvement (reduction) in body roll on left and right turns from a stoplight. I also notice an improvement when traveling over relatively small bumps in the road like manhole covers, temporary plates covering utility work and other ...

Re: Sway Bar Installation.....

I picked up the sway bar today. I had to delay delivery for a few days since I was out of town. I looked through the box, read the instructions and will tackle the job tomorrow morning when it's cooler outside. The Hellwig shipping package was lower quality than I expected. The end of the bar had br...

Re: Gasoline Fumes When Refueling?

On a recent trip I took time to fill the tank using a couple different methods. On one fill-up I purposely filled the tank as much as possible - I filled it so much, gas was leaking from somewhere - likely a cracked hose. In this instance there was definitely a smell of gas fumes and it lasted more ...

Re: Gasoline Fumes When Refueling?

I haven't taken time to look for cracked hoses. However, I did refuel the van today and I avoided "topping off" - no gas fumes. I'll continue to monitor the situation and report back.

Re: Re:

...In the 97 and later rigs there is a storage bay below the gen compartment so Airstream install a fitting and a hose that exits the gen compartment and bolts to the frame of the Ford chassis with a drain valve on the end.... I wonder how many 1997 thru 2000 owners know that... Thanks for the tip....

Re: ladder replacement feet

skater, How did your Plasti Dip feet hold up over time? I've applied several dip coats to the feet on the ladder an it has made a reasonably thick (1/8" - 3/16") layer of protection all around the C channel. I'm considering adding a small block of wood too and then dip that a few times. I ...

Thanks for the reply. This makes me think I always want to make the passenger side a little higher when leveling so the water will run the opposite direction.

Re: Floor Mats

Yes, I see what you mean but carpeted floor mats typically are not "molded" so they only cover the relatively flat portion of the floor. In the case of an E350 the mats do not go up and over the bump created by the wheel well. I suspect the clear mats I ordered will be very similar. A frie...

Re: Floor Mats

The ones I got didn't give me as much coverage as I wanted. I ordered them here. http://www.autoaccessoriesgarage.com/Floor-Mats-Liners/_Ford-Econoline If you have time to post a picture that would be helpful. I looked at the web site but there are several varieties of floor mats listed so I'm not ...

Re: Floor Mats

Thanks, I almost made that mistake. I'd like to know what you ordered. I've been searching for carpeted floor mats for the driver and passenger for our 1998 and I have not found any to my liking yet. I did order a set of clear Coverking mats from Amazon that I hope to use over the carpeted floor ma...

Re: Sway Bar Installation.....

This thread has lots of good information. Thanks for posting all the details. I've ordered a rear sway bar from Hellwig and it should arrive this week. I'm hoping it will fit since the 1998 has a fresh water tank very close to the rear differential. I'll keep you posted.

Air Conditioner Condensate

I just purchased a 1998 B190 and used the air conditioner for a few hours. The good thing is it cools fine. However, the air conditioner condensate is running across the roof and then dripping down the side of the van. Depending on how the van is pitched it will run down the passenger side or driver...
