Re: Crashed My Van
Just picked this up. Sorry to hear this but it sounds like you were not physically hurt and are dealing with the stroke at this point. I guess it comes down to 3 options. 1. You said that insurance will pay you $13,800 if you keep it and that it would cost $13,360 to repair. So you could take the mo...

Re: Buying it back...
What is really helpful about your rebuild is that it reveals what is behind the walls and how things come apart, and hopefully go back together!!

Re: Propane tank removal
I remember that screw being a problem. It is brass I believe and I think I was able to get it off (after spraying it with a lock buster) by carefully sharpening the hole with a hacksaw blade, then tapping on the head of the screwdriver with a hammer while turning. I may have also used a cold chisel ...

Re: Propane tank removal
Is it leaking when partially open or closed, and not leaking fully open or closed? If so, it is a simple and inexpensive fix. I posted pictures and details on this site.

Re: Propane fill valve leaking
Thanks! I wasn't relishing trying to get the fill valve off, although like most things with these vans, the anticipation is usually worse than the actual project. It's age related I know.

Re: Propane fill valve leaking
I may not have looked at previous threads closely enough. Under "propane expansion" I noticed a similar problem with tanks being too full. So it looks like maybe my system is working as it should. Agree?

Propane fill valve leaking
I looked through the threads and couldn't find anything about a leaky fill valve, but mine did. I smelled propane under the van and found that the plastic fill valve cover was covered in about 2" of frost. It was obviously leaking, which I confirmed when I unscrewed the cap. It was very cold ou...

Re: 1995 B190 that ended up being a total restoration and a 4x4 build
This is a fun read and if I ever do a conversion this is what I would want to do. It is expensive but you are going to have a piece of art when you are done, one that is likely to appreciate in value. Congratulations for taking this on! I hope your mother is prepared to handle all the people wanting...

Re: additional parts for sway bar installation?
You may have solved this already but it looks like they sent you a wrong bushing because they both should be the same size, the hole being the size of the bar. The company should send a replacement with a call. I have a 91 and did what you are doing and it does make a big difference. The mechanic mi...

Re: Rear Lockers...
I'd like to revisit this post about lockers or limited slip differential conversion. There has been some discussion on FB. Does anyone have any experience doing this or hearing about whether it is possible? I'm asking because I plan to talk to my mechanic about the possibility but if it is an obviou...

Re: What Would You Do??
Hi Sheila, I live and grew up in Vermont so I am very familiar with serious rust, as in looking down between my feet and seeing the road go by! It sounds like you really like the b and would like to continue your dream of traveling in retirement. $4,000 to make it safe does not sound that bad to me ...

Re: Propane Furnace Replacement Recommendation?
Jennifer I don't know if you have made your purchase yet but I can recommend both of those companies as I have bought many parts from both rebuilding 2 Airstream trailers and the b190. I know Steve from Vintage Trailer Supply very well, even before he started his business. His prices may be a but hi...

Re: Furnace removal?
What year? It sounds like nothing is happening. my 91 has an on/off switch under thermostat and once that is on you have to call for heat by having lever toward high temperature. If that all is done to remove Make sure your gas is turned off and once the gas is disconnected at the heater, and it can...

Re: Gas off, oven burner still burns
Here's my 2cts. The shut off valve isn't sealing fully, allowing propane to continue to flow a little. If you aren't comfortable working on propane valves then I think you do need to go to a propane shop or rv dealer to have the valve either replaced or rebuilt. There are rubber gaskets that get dri...
