Camp Hill PA- just joined

Post by WilRichwin »

Hi folks-
Nice to find you all. My husband Bill is the real B-van & Airstream fan in our family-- I'm the computer person (dare I say "nerd"). I signed in for him cause he's thinking of retrofitting the sleeping accommodation in our '96. We have 2 grade-school kids (Daniel, Zoe) who can climb in and out of the bunk more easily than we, but we're really too big for the folding sofa. Ideas welcome! Anyway.... we're WBCCI members of the Washington DC and Central Penn units. Camp 10 months of the year, tow with the Bvan and use it solo for overnight jaunts.

(Moved to a new thread to make it easier to converse.)

I'm a member of the WDCU as well. I was at the Cherry Blossom Rally over the weekend - cold but fun. :)

As for expanding the folding sofa, there were some ideas posted a while back in the old message forum - unfortunately I haven't yet been successful at getting them integrated into this site; every time I try, it breaks the forums. The ideas essentially revolved around making a frame that would extend closer to the cabinets.

folding sofa re-do

Post by WilRichwin »

I thought of building a box frame that slides out like the pull-out beds in Airstream trailers, but we still need it to be function for seating during travel, including seat belts.

Anyone have experience reupholstering the sofa?

Regjane8 from the old site built a frame which fits between the sofa and cabinets. There are the drawings and a picture of the
tubing to expand the area between the bed and the cabinets. As soon as I figure out how to add a picture to a response I will post them. Regjane8 says a queen size Aerobed will fit in the space.

Pics would be great

Pictures of the frame you mentioned lv2roam would be great! My husband's suggested something along that line but didn't know how to build it. Hope you can find 'em.
thanks.

It's been about 7 years since this thread was discussed. Anyone done as in the gallery photos, or anything else to extend the bed?
