Adding an external enclosure to the awning

Post by VT964x4 »

Hello all,
I am planning on adding an enclosure that attaches to the existing awning to increase outside space. There seem to be a number of options. Something like this http://www.shadepro.net/category/RV_Screen_Rooms.html or http://camperpartsandsupplies.com/rv-aw ... rooms.html

Has anyone done this? Thank you.

We haven't done it. It seem like a good idea though. Nice bug barrier for summer at least.

I looked into this a few years ago as well. Was hoping there was a kit for the existing awning-- no go. Options were to purchase new, similar to what you are looking at. In the end though I found a screen kit meant for an "instant up" canopy, and have made it work with my existing awning. The screen kit was about $20, so bit cost savings. Is it as fine tuned as the kits you are looking at? Absolutely not, but it takes up very little room- the screen stuffs into a nylon bag and takes up the space of a pillow. As just a screen option, it does not block out rain or wind. Just my 2 pennies. Pictures in my photo album

Thank you for the replies, I was afraid as much. I may try and work with someone locally and see what we can drum up over the spring. I really appreciate the $20 option!
