Catalytic Converter Stolen
Hi there, everyone. I have a 1999 with the V10 engine and I recently had my catalytic converter stolen while my van was in storage. I consider myself to be a handy guy and good working on vehicles and honestly it looks like an easy replacement as there's no welding involved and doing it myself is way cheaper than taking it to a shop. HOWEVER I'm not getting clear indications from trying to buy a new Cat online where the down-stream O2 sensor is on these as some Cats I find that fit this model don't have a port for an O2 sensor, some put the O2 sensor in the middle of the Cat, and some put it in the end. I'm hoping one of you with a 97, 98, or 99 with the V10 can do me a solid and take some pics under your van of your Catalytic Converter and specifically where the downstream O2 sensor is located so I know what Cat to buy or exactly how I need to go about replacing it. Thank you!

Re: Catalytic Converter Stolen
Sorry for your loss. I stopped a catalytic converter theft next door and had a gun pulled on me. They got away and my neighbor got to keep his cat converter. If there wasn’t a market for the stolen goods then we wouldn’t have to deal with this crap. And no real consequence when they do get caught… This whole thing sucks.
I’ll crawl underneath tomorrow morning and take some pics for you.

The first pic is looking towards the front of the rv and shows where the sensor attaches. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need pics from other angles

Re: Catalytic Converter Stolen
@usachris you've already helped me a ton with the pictures you posted. I was hoping you could help me just a little more. I'm guessing the thieves were not nice about disconnecting the o2 sensor because I can't find any hint of the wiring harness for it where it's supposed to be and they must have ripped it out. If it's not too much to ask do you mind following the wiring harness to see where it leads in the engine? I'd he most appreciative!

Re: Catalytic Converter Stolen
We had ours stolen off our 97. On our van, there was no O2 sensor downstream of the cat.
