1993 B190 For Sale - SOLD

Post by Planck »

1993 AIRSTREAM B190
VIN 1FDJS34G7PHB07934

After owning 2 different B190s over the last 10 years we have purchased a 5th wheel. We are spending more time wintering in Florida each year and after 2 months last year we decided more room would be a real plus. Spent 4 months in Florida this winter in the 5th wheel at one location so have decided it is time for the B190 to got to a new home. This is a great unit for true camping as opposed to Rving. Can park almost anywhere and stay almost anywhere with the on board generator, house battery, toilet, shower, etc.

So, why buy this one. First off, it is a 25 rear old class B motor home, so things may go wrong. Although observing new class Bs and other Rvs in our Florida park I think the new ones have as many or more problems than this one. Here is a list of what I have done to this B190:

Replace front brake calipers, rotors and flex hoses as precautionary measure, as our 91 B190 had a caliper freeze up on a trip.
Replace transmission cooling metal and flex lines to remote cooler as precaution.
Rebuilt transmission at certified shop. Shifts smoother now.
Torque converter replaced, as signs of overheating on original
Transmission start lockout harness replaced, as corrosion occasionally prevented starter from working.
This was a know problem and an upgrade kit is available.
Differential rebuilt with new bearings and ring and pinion adjusted.
PO had towed something heavy, possibly a car and differential was noisy until this repaiir was done last year.
Removed heavy awning and carry a lightweight half umbrella awning that is easy to crank up and down. This helps vehicle rocking with that weight off the top.
After giving up keeping carpet clean, removed it and installed linoleum flooring. Much easier to clean and mop up.
Added separate TV cable hook up for roof antennae. Airstream did not follow the directions for hooking up the antennae electronics, plus they did not do a good job sealing the cable coming in from the roof. This allowed water to run down the cable and into the electronics, ruining it. After replacing, I could see the water corrosion on the old unit, and also the instructions NOT to couple both cables into this device, so a separate roof outlet was added, and no more water can leak into the electronics.
Upper side windows have been resealed with thicker butyl and new rubber trim moldings. This was a problem on both of our B190s and most others. If not repaired, you will get black mold on the upper berth wood framing and destruction of the fiber board mattress base.
Original Motorcraft shocks replaced with Bilsteen Motor home shocks.
Spark plugs and wires replaced last year.
Small underhood house battery replaced with standard size house battery in slide out under sofa.
Sofa foam cushion replaced with dual density foam for a much more comfortable seating and sleeping surface.
Rubber fuel hose to generator replaced this Spring as was looking its age.
'Extra 110v outlet installed at front of sofa base so cords don’t drape across “hallway”
Removable wood stove top surface added for more counter space.
Bluetooth radio with microphone added for hands free calling and other bluetooth functions. Radio also has CD player.
All speakers replaced with quality speakers for much improved sound system.
All power door lock actuators replaced as most did not work requiring lots of key locking and unlocking.
Door handle cable acuator plastic ends replaced with aluminum as the orignals break after 20 or so years and prevent opening the doors.
Spare tire carrier removed and black powder coated.
Unused new spare that I replaced.
All 4 Ford factory service manuals come with the sale.
Air Lifts under rear springs for more stability
Front ball joints dried out so replaced with serviceable(grease zerks) ball joints.

Tires have good tread and about 4 years old.
76,300 miles

All of the rv equipment works. Generator starts right up. The only thing not working is the engine a/c. It will work for several days if charged but there is a leak somewhere. Living and mostly camping in northern Michigan, this has not been a problem, and can always run the roof air with the generator if needed.. There is also a system to actuate breaks in a tow car, and trailer harness connections. I removed the trailer hitch when we bought it as towing something defeats our purpose of park and go anywhere. The hitch was unsightly and rust pitted.
Includes bunk ladder and pedestal table

This unit just had a one week shakedown run in Michigan’s upper peninsula and was problem free.

$15,000 OBO
