The bathroom door on our ‘99 was missing a piece that allowed the accordion door to clasp shut. After a bit of searching, we decided on using an ultra-thin magnetic clasp as a solution:
One side attaches to the door frame.

It is called - Susgatsune Smc159 Ultra Thin Magnetic Catch and it has about an 8 and 1/2 lb. force attraction. Not too weak, and not too strong.

After trying to shut the door to the bathroom complete with the existing working latch, I think this magnet setup would be more user-friendly. It is obvious that you have gone into the bathroom area when you are constantly trying to shut the door and latch it for privacy. This magnet would be a more subtle attempt to close the door for sure!
