Re: Gps
We briefly owned the Magellan RV model. It worked well, but we ended up buying a new truck with a built in GPS, so we sold it pretty quickly. In general, though, a standard GPS will work fine; you just have to watch the height issue once you leave the highways.

Re: Gps
Have a Garmin but Google Maps on a smart phone seems to be better and easier to use so leaving the Garmin at home. Always have AAA maps as a backup and for route planning.

Re: Gps
Even though I have a Garmin on my bike I always have a map, took a 1,000 mile weekend ride w/a friend, a couple of weeks ago, he led the ride off of a map and notes and we were never lost. I just like having a gps for finding things/places I may need. I would like a Rv Gps but they are spendy and a plain old good quality car gps w/the help of the smart phone would probably be sufficient.

Re: Gps
I have used a Garmin Nuvi 3597LMT for some time now. It works great. If you are interested, Garmin also has a GPS model that also includes a backup camera that looks interesting.

Re: Gps
I like Waze and use it occasionally. Problem is out in the sticks, when you loose cell signal..., I know, have a map as back up but that map probably won't tell you were the nearest gas is, restaurant... From all I have read, all gps's will screw up now and then, check how you have it set up, your avoidances, and if you have a rv specific, your dimensions and weight, they can impact what roads the gps puts you on, Realistically, w/the B, height would be my only concern and not that big of a one. I am leaning towards the RV specific model for when I finally take that 1st adventure.brefmint wrote:Waze.

Over passes below 11 foot are pretty rare and forget about drive through's but trees below 9-6' are plentiful I don't know if gps would help or not. If not your going to be the first to know!

Yeah, watch the trees. I hit a low hanging branch with mine and broke the upper windshield.190-b-651 wrote:Over passes below 11 foot are pretty rare and forget about drive through's but trees below 9-6' are plentiful I don't know if gps would help or not. If not your going to be the first to know!

Re: Gps
Mine upper windshield is cracked not bad it was when I bought it im assuming that's what happened it probably wouldn't take much or a limb to crack it moving down the road. Its on my list of parts im going to replace when its painted most i have already like headlights grill continental kit. Was hopping to do it this winter but not possible do to a sickness in the family over the last year has taken all my time.
We didn't use the van but once in April this year.

Re: Gps
Not yet Choptop the body is in great shape but paint on the driver side and hood is oxidized really bad past the point of no return. The top jell coat is still in decent shape I could probably just go with shooting whats faded but I would rather paint and clear coat everything including the top with new stripes. And roof coating before paint.
If anyone has any idea what it should cost please let me know.

Re: Gps
I just had mine painted in March (the body - I did the top myself using marine paint - paint and supplies probably ran around $300... I stopped keeping track...!)
I went to a few places - got quotes everywhere from $2500 to $4000 (my paint was in REEEEALLY bad shape). I eventually found a guy who banged it out for $1700. Not showroom condition, but it's all one color and well protected! (He used Imron paint - airplane/bus paint - good stuff!)
