Well, the time has come...

Post by skater »

The time has come - Erica and I brought home a new Airstream travel trailer today! It's a '95 30' Excella. Gorgeous trailer. We love it already. I'll get some pictures posted later.

We bought a 2006 F-250 diesel a couple weeks ago to tow it with. The rig felt great coming home.

We'll be putting the B190 up for sale in a couple weeks (we have a trip planned next weekend, and we want fix a few things before we put the B190 up for sale). I always knew I'd eventually replace the B190 with something larger even when I bought it, and Erica and I are tired of the climb into the bed.

Don't worry about the website, because it will continue to exist - I'm going to run it for the foreseeable future.

Skater

This is a bummer for us remaining B190 folks. But, do enjoy your new rig. At least it's and Airstream, so you will be somewhat familiar with how to maintain it.

Nah, no doubles. The only event that I really want to have the Cougar for is CougarFest, but even that has gotten to the point where a Cougar is no longer required. I'll miss having the Cougar but the more-comfortable Airstream is worth it.

There was some question about whether the Cougar would make it to Fest this year anyway - Erica didn't want to drive it, the dolly is gone, and it's far more expensive to rent a car trailer than it is to rent a car.

I enjoy driving the truck a lot more than I thought I would, so I don't mind taking that on other trips. In addition to being a heavy duty tow vehicle, it has the Lariat package and is extremely nice inside - much nicer than any car we've owned. Here are some pictures of the truck.

I haven't had a chance to get many pictures of the Airstream yet - Erica took a few Saturday when we picked it up, then we drove home (~5 hours), unhooked, then I promptly started working on a couple minor issues (replacing a bad marker light, and replacing the emergency brake cable) in preparation for getting it inspected and registered. It doesn't help that Sunday I few to San Antonio for work, and won't return until Wednesday, so time is limited since we're hoping to use it this coming weekend...

So everything worked out - got the trailer inspected, registered, the cap on the truck, and thanks to Erica's hard work getting the camper ready while I was in SA, we made it to the campground only a bit later than we'd hoped. Having a great weekend. New camper is working pretty well, a few minor issues to clear up, but nothing serious.

Finally got some pictures of the new Airstream posted...my wife was taking some on the journey to pick it up, so there are quite a few that don't actually have a new Airstream in them. :)

Hey skater, wife and I just viewed the pics of your new Airstream. Very nice! Looks like a very livable floorplan, with lots of elbow room. Sure can appreciate the big bedroom. We wish you well and know you will enjoy camping in it. I can tell by the smile on your face. Take care.
