Re: B190 database
Good afternoon all,
New owner of a 1990 B190 I was reading this earlier this morning and thought I would put my info on the site. I have some work to do as it is, of course a 30 year old house, 30 year old vehicle. Presently it states 46,000 miles I don't know if that is actual but suspect it has some moisture leaking at the fan. Anyway, back to the message at hand.

Re: B190 database
Got it! Welcome to the site. Interestingly, yours is a 1991 Airstream on a 1990 chassis. This happens when they have some leftover vans from one year but start a new model year.Kk4Hlm1959 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 11:26 amGood afternoon all,

Re: B190 database
So the E350 part of it is 1990 but the house is 1991. Good to know. Perhaps it will make a difference when I get started working on it. I also realized I didn't give much information about where I am, Surry County, VA. Sort of close to Norfolk/Va Beach but still over a 45 minute drive if no traffic. Reasonably close to the outer banks though.

We were supposed to go to the Outer Banks a few weeks ago for our anniversary. Unfortunately a sick cat meant we had to cancel the trip. I'm bummed, because I was really looking forward to it.Kk4Hlm1959 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 4:38 pmSo the E350 part of it is 1990 but the house is 1991. Good to know. There's not a lot of difference between 1990 and 1991 in either the Airstream part or the Ford part, so as a practical matter, the difference is minor and probably won't ever really be a factor. It's just an interesting quirk.
It occurred to me that the stats I've given in this thread (number by year) are calculated based on the Ford VIN, but the production numbers from Airstream are almost certainly by Airstream year. Therefore the numbers I have for each year might not align perfectly. Unfortunately I don't have Airstream VINs for quite a few of the B190s (eBay and Craigslist ads almost universally only give the Ford VIN if any is given at all). I've decided, for now, to ignore this problem. Maybe someday I'll come up with a way to rectify it.

Re: B190 database
I've posted a quick and dirty interface to the database here. You can search for info on the VIN there, see the current stats, and the most recent locations of B190s in the database. Minutes of fun!
Looking for feedback! I know it's not super pretty and that the pages are not well integrated, but those are cosmetic issues that I'll work on as time permits.
Oh, this also marks me using the online database as primary. This means changes I make in the data will appear right away.

That "I" as the first digit of the Airstream VIN is interesting. Every other one I've seen is a "1".DragonWagon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 1:35 pm1989 B190

Re: B190 database
And the new one is starting to show an issue with the way I've been reporting info. Take these three lines:
Year - # Built - Sequence Numbers we've seen so far
1992 - 90 - 300356-300481
1993 - 225 - 300564-300701
1994 - 158 - 300706-300849
Start with the 1994 row. The lowest number we have for 1994 is #706, which means the highest sequence 1993 year has to be #705 or below. But if you take 705 and subtract 225 (the number built in 1993), the result is 480...which is within the known sequence numbers for 1992.
I have a theory on why this is: The chassis year doesn't necessarily match up with Airstream's year (and in fact there are several in the database that don't match). Since I have the chassis VIN for every B190 in the database, that's how I'm compiling the information, but in reality I need the B190 VINs to really do it correctly. (We have B190 VINs for about 70% of the B190s in the database.) I'll have to pull the data by Airstream VIN and see how it looks.

Got it, thanks! Did you buy it in Texas? Looks like it was advertised on the Facebook B190 group in January.

The CoVan
1998 B190 with V10
AS VIN: 1B9KGVA27WJ301294
Ford VIN: 1FDSS34WHA07006
We bought the CoVan in 2020 in Lubbock, TX and now lives with us in Fort Worth. It was a bit of an impulse buy and we definitely had to pay a covid markup (get it?) but we love it and have already driven it to Portland Maine and San Diego (two different trips!). The guy we bought it from had only owned it for a few months. The previous owner (also from Lubbock) had it for a few years and she bought it from the original owner who bought it in Lubbock from Billy Sims Trailer Town. I have the original receipt that says the original retail price was $57,699.
The van had some mods when we bought it including a non-functional alarm system, a transmission temperature gauge (also not working), a crazy huge CRT backup camera monitor that is great for smashing your head on, two mystery switches (maybe related to alarm and temp gauge), and laminate "wood" flooring.
I have about 10000 things I want to do to it but currently, it runs great with about 115K miles on the odometer.
