I figured I'd have to find something used that gets 20 mpg at no more than $20,000 to get near even. Say 5000 miles a year at a difference of 10 mpg and that is 500 gallons a year. At (lets be conservative) $4 per gallon that means the difference per year is $2000. So that gives me $20,000 over ten ...

That is good to know. Appearance-wise mine has some paint issues (the paint seems to be just peeling off in quite a few places) and I need to replace the rubber around the windows. Unfortunately the last owner let an acid spill from the coach battery eat through the wheel well so there is some prett...

I *think* that maybe the reason I lost that gallon of coolant was I didn't put the cap back on with a full twist to close it and it leaked out (is that possible?). Then I was neurotic about it and kept filling it almost to the top so it kept losing the extra I was putting in. Maybe? I have never had...

Well, I went to DC then took the scenic route back to Florida - that is over to Front Royal then down the Skyline Drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway then down the parkway to Cherokee in North Carolina (at the entrance to the Great Smokey Mountain National park). From there I followed my GPS to Table Ro...

I just got back from one of my favorite places, Table Rock State park in South Carolina. It is in the Cherokee foothills west of Greenville (21 miles west of Greenville and "only" 90 miles from southeast of Cherokee at the entrance to Great Smokey Mountain National Park). Open all year and...

Depending on circumstances -- Washington DC this Friday. Or maybe not - the underwater hockey folks I was planning to take up there for the tournament don't seem to want to leave early enough to get there at a legal (and doable) speed so they might be taking a little van that can bust along at 90. I...

Wow - it drives great now and the air bag load leveler system isn't even adjusted perfectly! I also got new shocks so that might be part of the improvement too. The air bag system is an Air Lift Load Lifter 5000 (part number 57125) which can be adjusted from 5 psi to 100 psi. It is at 20 psi now (th...

Apparently the steering wasn't all that okay after all. One kingpin was shot and the other almost there. I just thought it steered like a big ole truck since it pretty much is one. Once again my inexperience in RVs is showing. Glad I got this one first to learn on instead of some $100,000 rig. I als...

Gainesville? Not a University of Florida fan, are you? Not much of a fan of the UF football team since football seems totally strange to me. Never figured out the attraction. I am, however, doing a little bit of fill-in refereeing for the Gators Underwater Hockey team. Not what UF is mostly known f...

Can't tell you much about the transmission fluid lines. I had a small leak which I discovered by seeing some fluid on the road where I parked while traveling then, right when I got to where I was going, (here in Gainesville) the transmission starting having trouble shifting. So I took it in and the ...

The steering does seem a little loose but nothing really problematic - seems to be in the normal range of the various vehicles I drive, not as tight as some but it doesn't feel uncomfortable. At any rate the van rocks pretty bad whenever a truck passes and I catch its wake and when the wind is blowi...

Thanks, After reading skater's reply this morning that is exactly what I just did - took it in, told them to replace all the shocks with the best they have, and check out the front suspension thoroughly. The salesman who sold the rig to me 5 years ago said it had new shocks and since I've only put a...

Thanks, I am going to do some driver "training" with my friend next time we travel. I expect if I mention the drive train and gearing I can suggest that he is ruining my van by driving too fast. That way I'm not being a back seat driver as much as a concerned owner. :) For the other stuff ...

Max speed?

Does anyone know the speed at which the 190 is unsafe to drive? I never drive over 70 (and that is scary for me) but I have friend who drives it at 75 and does nasty things like runs up on high speed traffic clots so he can try to ride with the tailgate pushers in the fast lane and get ahead of the ...

Hi from New Member

Hi all. I have a 1990 190 and like it just fine for trips, long or short. It is getting a bit old and needs a paint job but it seems to be holding up pretty good. I had to replace the fridge and the power converter and had to move the battery from under the hood (where the previous owner let it spil...
