Re: water pump/ water heater

The key being: don't fire up the water heater unless you are SURE that it is filled with water , whether on propane or electric. The electric element can burn out quickly if it isn't immersed while on. I'm not sure what safety features the propane burner might have to shut itself off if the tank isn...

Re: 1999 Airstream 190 for sale

Hi, Dave. Sorry not to reply sooner, was traveling and didn't get any forum notifications. It's still for sale, and I'd entertain offers. If you click on a member's name (e.g. while looking at something they posted), you should get to their profile page, and somewhere on that page should be a link t...

We did have our dogs with us, but they are small cockapoos, and don't shed at all (seriously!), in case that makes a difference to your allergies (our allergic dau...

Re: Satellite Dish

A previous owner put a small 120v wall heater (Fahrenheat FFL Model B) next to the electrical panel beneath the settee in our 1999 unit. It saves a lot propane so long as you're hooked up. The picture might be different if you're paying a lot for metered electricity, but I've never done that.

Re: New Wheels and Tires--a shopping opportunity

You can find inflation/load tables for your tire load index, and then use your actual loaded front and rear axle weights to find the recommended PSI front and rear. When I did this for my 1999 B190 and my tires (LT245/75R16E load index 120) it came out to 55 front and 80 rear, which actually matched...

Re: Needing a new sewer hose and clear elbow for a 1999

Alaskan or SeaQuinn, Can you show a photo of where the tube fits amongst the tanks? My fresh water tank blocks anything longer than about 18" at that location. I could possibly put a nearly full-width tube in between the fresh and grey water tanks from the other side, right behind the exhaust b...

Re: Awnings on late model 190's?

Cool!

MichaelC, do you know the make, model, and size of the awning on "Baby Newell II"? Any possibility of getting some closeups of the mounting hardware, how it fits against the curved topper, etc.?

Re: Awnings on late model 190's?

Yeah, my owners manual has no mention of an awning, either. I've gotten the impression that one problem with the newer topper may be that it doesn't present a flat surface (front to back) to mount an awning to. Any rigid awning type (e.g. case awning) might need custom bracketry to accommodate the f...

Awnings on late model 190's?

Hi, all. Anybody actually have or had an awning on their later Airstream 190 model (with the redesigned top, approx. 1996 or 1997 and later)? My 1999 didn't come with an awning and it's not obvious to me what would work amongst the current makes and models available, so I was wondering what is known...
