Thanks , I have found a sticker in the van telling me it was a MORFLO DSI 6 - but a google search for this reveals nothing Attached is my old heater and now new one I bought -regretting it! :( As you can see one comes with a lip around for screwing in and the other (like all 6 g models I've seen) do...

Thanks for that detailed reply - so when I pull the heater I should try replace all the pipes there? Mir is an issue with our pipes because things don't fit into them anymore? Yes skater the petcock is on the outside side where the hex should be - the problem is the water coming from above inside - it's not the two inlet and outlet pipes unless there is another one for what reason I don't know - above the unit?!? - going to have to shut it off again for now so I can have ...

So my water heater is leaking from the top -I can't see where - but its not the inlet or outlet water tubes - I reconnected the pipes when I bought the van and I think the water heater was known to be broken thats why it was shut off. Nightmare!! Ok so closed the valve - water not coming from there but then after tank is full it over flows somewhere from the top of the tank I can't see as toilet is in the way?!?!? - what to do?
