Furnace takes minutes to re-ignite
Up until this week the furnace on our 1991 would fire up within seconds on the first cycle, warm the cabin, then shut off as it should. On the next cycle, the fan would turn back on but the gas would not ignite, producing only cold air. Thinking that the furnace was malfunctioning, we would simply s...

Re: Will running fridge off inverter while driving cause damage?
Thanks for your response. Using the inverter is a workaround until I can figure out how to wire up the refrigerator's 12v function and/or repair the refrigerator's pilot, which struggles to stay lit. It sounds like it may be tried it for short drives, after adjusting the inverter to shut off under s...

Will running fridge off inverter while driving cause damage?
1991 has a Norcold N300 with a mysteriously unwired 12v connector. House batteries were recently expanded to 2 parallel 79 Amp hour AGMs to facilitate lot docking, plying an 1800w Tripp-Lite inverter. I'd like to try running the fridge via the inverter while driving, but haven't been able to figure ...

Re: Gas off, oven burner still burns
Thanks to all who replied. After parking it for the winter, was finally able to find a local repair house that replaced the valve. It turned out to be a much tougher job than I could have handled, but it was inexpensive and the propane system is now working properly.

Re: Propane tank removal
If necessary, but would ideally just replace the shutoff valve.

Re: Propane tank removal
Thank you for the step by step procedure. My shutoff valve didn't close completely, so draining the tank first was necessary. It was quite helpful to learn that using a jack helps handle the tank, but isn't required to lift the camper. On with the removal!

Re: Gas off, oven burner still burns
The journey with continually trickling propane has yielded the following: -Local RV repair house reports no leaks in propane system, determines that the tank valve does not fully close. -Same repair house cannot obtain a replacement valve or tank, even though several posts on the B190 forums indicat...

Gas off, oven burner still burns
Accidentally discovered that oven burners still lit and burned after the tank valve was closed. No discernible leaks or odors. Upon inspection and recommendation from a local propane house, we bounced the tank valve and tried again. This time all 4 burners lit, and 3 promptly poofed out. The fourth ...

Re: Fiberglass top discoloration
Took the plunge on a polisher and initial results are encouraging. Here is the top as polished below the blue line. The portion above the blue line will require more work, but at least we know that the gel coat is still there.
Thanks for your comments.

Re: Fiberglass top vexation continues
To date, have attempted to clean the fiberglass top via these suggested remedies: petroleum jelly/scratchie Flitz Gel Gloss white vinegar solution Bar Keeper's Friend polishing compound Nothing helps; it just gets dirtier to the point where it's embarrassing to attend rallies. Saw a remedy on B190 N...

Fiberglass top discoloration
Please note the different colored areas on the rear fiberglass top near the Airstream logo. Does anyone know how to return the area to a uniform color? The unit was cleaned prior to the creation of the photos.

Re: #189 In the Mitten
Correction: it's a 1991 B190 on a 1990 chassis. Just completed a 4 week, 4,000 mile inaugural trip with nothing more serious than a leaky alloy wheel.

#189 In the Mitten
1990 Airstream #189 is officially in the B190 Enthusiast fold following yesterday's Michigan purchase. Aside from the typical Bunk Lake damage (demo completed today!), it is a fine specimen. All of you played an important role by posting your valuable information and experiences. Without them we may...
