Re: Chemical recommendations?

Thanks Chris! I think I saw the Welex stuff at Walmart the other day. Seems like it was about $10 for 10-15 packets. I’ll check into that stuff from Amazon as well. Yeah, I only have a black water holding tank on my ‘88 Okanagan. Not sure if it was designed that way, or if one of the previous owners...

Chemical recommendations?

Anyone have any advice about what chemicals to use in my black water tank? (I don’t have a gray water tank; everything goes to the black.) Is the stuff from Walmart pretty good? How often would you put it in? I’m a newbie to RV toilets; ANY advice is appreciated.

Re: Brake Light Issue…

Turns out…it was the turn signal switch! I guess the brake lights run through that switch? Weird that the rear blinkers worked just fine if the switch was faulty. As far as the reverse lights go, the mechanic said he never saw a problem with them. My guess is my 9-year-old “helper” I had standing be...

Re: Brake Light Issue…

So I checked the switch on the brake pedal with a multimeter. It seems to be functioning correctly. (Voltage from one of the wires all the time; voltage from the other wire only when I depress the pedal.) I’m guessing this means it’s probably a wiring issue somewhere between the brake pedal switch a...

Re: Brake Light Issue…

Hey Skater, thanks for the reply. My Okanagan is an ‘88. I think the ground is working fine, as both filaments in the bulb are lighting up just fine (with the taillights and blinker) and I checked the socket for ground using the multimeter ohms setting, and I consistently got it to read.

Brake Light Issue…

A couple weeks back on my way to park the camper in storage, I noticed that the brake lights were out. Now I’m finally getting around to dealing with it. After pulling the rear driver’s side taillight cover off and checking the bulbs (all good, filaments intact & showing resistance with a multim...

Re: Dash Lights Out...

Thanks Skater! I'll definitely check the dimmer switch ground wire connection before taking the dash apart. It's definitely not just "dimmed down" on the headlight knob. (I certainly have made oversights in my life that were that obvious, so I'm glad you asked, but this time I actually tho...

Dash Lights Out...

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've checked in, but I've been making some fixes/upgrades on "Okie" almost weekend-ly, and we even took her up ski-camping about a month ago! Anyway, I just realized last weekend my dash lights are completely out. (They'd been pretty dim since I purchased ...

Oil Change Advice/tips?

About to change the oil for the first time on my (new to me) ‘88 Okanagan. It’s got a rebuilt 460 fuel injected engine from 1995. Anything weird you guys can think of I should be aware of, or will it just be a normal oil change? In searching YouTube, I couldn’t find any videos that gave me the specs...

Re: Fuel Tank Switch Question...

Thanks Skater. All good info here for this project and the next one, I’m sure. At this point, I might just turn her over to a mechanic with print outs of everything I’ve learned from you guys on this thread. Until then, I’ll just be using your dead reckoning method. Side note- just had our first kid...

Re: Fuel Tank Switch Question...

Good call. Thanks Skater! Man, you’ve been busy answering ALL my questions on here. I really appreciate the help. So I found a video on YouTube (https://youtu.be/l-1q9vIsuKw) of a guy replacing the fuel pump in a B190, and it doesn’t look all that complicated. I’m thinking of picking up two new fuel...

Headlights angled down and WAY too dim

So I just purchased an ‘88 Okanagan and drove her home on a whirlwind 1400 mile trip a couple weekends ago. A buddy flew out with me to help with the drive, and after the test drive from the airport and signing over the title, we left the seller’s home around 11pm on night one. It soon became appare...

Re: Ideas for accordion door replacement

I’m curious about this as well. The accordion door on the ‘88 Okanagan I just purchased has been completely removed. (Probably around the same time someone removed the shower/tub to create more storage.) Did you ever come up with a solution for the door?

Fuel Tank Switch Question...

Hey everyone, I just purchased an '88 Okanagan (Thanks for the CL find @Oldbagpipe!) and drove her home from Washington to Colorado a couple weeks ago. I got to replace the alternator in an Autozone parking lot outside Billings, MT, but that wasn't the only mechanical issue I had getting her home. A...
