Re: Cigarette lighter power source?
In my 1993 Airstream 190 there are two cigarette lighter sockets: one in the dash and one above the refrigerator and microwave. The dash cigarette lighter socket is powered by the starting battery. In my 190 this is live even when the ignition is off. The rear cigarette lighter socket, which is part...

Re: LT265/75R16 load range E
I have Michelin M/S2 LT265/75R16 on all four wheels of my 1993 Airstream 190 (on a Ford E350 chassis). When I purchased the vehicle it had Goodyear Wrangler LT245/75R16 tires. After one of those tires came apart (in 2004), I explored alternatives, eventually choosing Michelins in the larger size. At...

One way to approach this is to make a list of every device that receives AC power in the van, then address them one by one. I think this list of AC devices is complete (at least for...

Re: air conditioner from batteries possible?
Skater is correct that running the A/C off of batteries for any significant length of time is not realistic. It is, however, possible to run the A/C from batteries for short periods. I've installed three 100 Ah (amp-hour) AGM batteries under the couch in my B190 (note that ONLY sealed batteries, suc...

Re: onan generator
My impression has always been that the gas-tank fuel intake for the generator is at the 1/4-full level, meaning that when the tank gets to 1/4 full, the generator sucks air instead of fuel. I've never verified that this is how it works, though. Regardless of the mechanism, the purpose of the 1/4-tan...
