Re: Fixing stiff knobs on the stove

Thanks, Skater. I’ve needed this fix for one of my burners since I bought my van 10 years ago. What a helpful write up! Looking forward to completing this repair during my “spring van project season”.

Re: Furnace clicks on and off

A couple of things on the propane: yes, there might have been some left in the lines that allowed the stove burners to light briefly, but I doubt that would have been enough to also light the oven. I would suggest that you close the propane tank valve and then reopen it slowly and completely. Someti...

Re: Furnace clicks on and off

When the thermostat calls for heat, the fan comes on and the clicking is the pilot igniter. Then the controls look for three conditions to be satisfied: 12V, propane, and air flow. If the conditions are met, the burner will light. If they are not met, it tries a total of 3 times and then the fan blo...

Re: Should I buy?

Dear ChrisK: If you are thinking of buying THIS one, imagine that it will easily take another $5K to get it into reasonable shape—more if the transmission goes. (And 92K miles on the Odo is a lot.) So now it’s a $10K investment to start with and there will still be ongoing costs. I’m not a mechanic....

Loose shifting into Drive

I’m posting this in case someone else has the problem I just had. I was experiencing increasingly sloppy, loose action with the column shifter going into and out of Drive. I had visions of needing to disassemble the whole steering column chasing down the problem, but first I searched online and foun...

Re: replacement tank

The Manchester 6814 is the tank I bought for a replacement, and it bolted on to my ‘94 with the original hardware. I can’t say for certain that my original tank was a 10-gal capacity, but this 10”x32” tank works well and I’m happy with it, since it can’t be overfilled—a problem with the old one. Sen...

Re: Refrigerator lighting up but not cooling

This fridge does look promising. I think I found it on the Dometic site here https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/products/food-and-beverage/mobile-refrigeration/rv-refrigerators/dometic-americana-3-series-_-136457 and it comes in both left and right hand doors. The dimensions and manuals are there, too...

Thanks for weighing in on this, Skater. Like so many components in our vans, it appear this A/C unit is living on borrowed time. I’ll add it to the list... :)

Air conditioner antics

I rarely use the B190’s air conditioner, but I thought we might need it this week, so before leaving home I ran it to see if it worked, and it did. Fast forward to mid-morning a couple of days later, and I turned it on to “low air conditioning” and left for about 5 hours. When we returned in the hea...

Re: B190 database

Hi Skater: Thanks for developing and keeping this database. And I love your VIN decoder! You may well have my 1994 van in your database, but in case not, here is an updated list of the particulars. I copied your “must have” list below so I’d be sure to include what you asked for— Chassis VIN: 1FDJS3...
