Re: Can this vent be closed?
YMMV on simple parts replacement. My repair shop couldn’t even find the correct outside vent cover, much less the flap assembly. I took off the kitchen vent fan and made foil tape hinges so the flap can move with the positive pressure of the fan when it’s on. When it is off, the flap rests on an exi...

Re: water heater
I know this is an old thread, but maybe this will help others. I had the same issue. My repair shop diagnosed the problem as a burned-out control board. Based on youtube videos this is a very common problem (appears right away in search). If you have the correct part (if you know your water heater m...

Re: Replacing the converter
Skater and all: I just got a response from my RV mechanic. He suggests that the converter is too large for the electrical system. It seems that those who’ve done this feel like the extra amperage is not a problem, but it seems as if the mechanic is suggesting it will put too much power into the syst...

Re: Awning replacement possibilities...
It has three telescoping poles that can go under the couch but they’re so compact in their sleeve that I usually just leave them tucked up against the couch on the floor. The awning folds up to be about 10-12” wide and 3-4 feet long, fairly flat, and stores under the couch.

Re: Replacing the converter
Following these threads, similar problem in my '96. House battery isn't charging when plugged in, and I like the performance boost I'm reading about in all the posts about that new converter.
ORDERED! Having it installed during service next week. Yay!

Re: Awning replacement possibilities...
We got a bagged awning at Vintage Trailer Supply. They had one that someone had returned for color in just about the size we wanted. It goes up in about five minutes and is pretty good in the wind--I end up taking it down due to noise and jerking the van around!

Re: The Sagging Roof
I'm curious if anyone has put on a few layers of fiberglass, as suggested, to fill the sag in the roof? I was thinking about doing this with self-leveling sealant, as the sag in my roof is around the vent where I used that stuff anyway.

Re: Bye, bye sewer hose door
Oddly, the sewer hose door on my '96 leads to...the frame rails. With an older hose that had slightly smaller fittings, I was able to wire some corrugated flexible drainage pipe under the van, angling from drivers rear to passenger front and across. There was nothing but a door and a hole, so I conn...

Re: Under Couch Drawer Conversion
That makes sense! What doesn't is how long the run is from the battery (especially when it's on the passenger side) and the converter. I imagine that's a significant voltage drop--I have a friend who is a marine electrician (also a Marine electrician, formerly) who hates to make long cable runs to a...

Re: Pedestal Table
Pretty much looks just like that, and can be pivoted to any orientation. After reading a bunch that folks don't use it much because it is awkward and in the way I thought I'd give it a try for a few days. Ours isn't super tight in the floor so can wobble back and forth a bit, but most of all, while ...

Re: Under Couch Drawer Conversion
Coming back to the board for some ideas, just saw your video, Falcon. Thanks, and very cool. I've been thinking about electrical system upgrades, but am trying to keep it simple. I wish they had put the house battery near the converter. I have a Renogy solar suitcase for ease of use, and it's been g...

Re: Over cab mattress
Old thread, new post, just for some ideas. We pulled the old mattress out, and use two thermarest camping mats as the mattress. We got the 3" thick ones, like these: https://www.thermarest.com/sleeping-pads/camp-and-comfort/luxurymap-sleeping-pad/luxurymap.html and we zip together two Cabela's ...

Re: Restoring or rebuilding interior questions
Coming in late to this thread...thanks for the photos! I've taken the ceiling out of the front half of our 190, as we had leaking around the fan and mice had (long ago) made some nests in the pink roll insulation in the ceiling. Now that it's all stripped out, I plan on putting foam board in the &qu...

Re: Resealing in 2020? Sikasil and XTRM self leveling?
I just talked with the shop and they clarified that nothing comes off the van. They'll scrape the sealant out, spray with anti-mildew stuff, let dry overnight, and reapply sealant. There is quite a bit of sealing to do, per the diagram attached... all the upper windows, most of the small ports and h...

Resealing in 2020? Sikasil and XTRM self leveling?
Hi all, I've seen numerous threads on resealing windows, but none recent. I'm also interested in whether folks think this is a job for a shop, or better DIY? The materials are Sikasil and XTRM self leveling sealant, and the work described as: "Reseal the coach as illustrated on 749.85 TWS inspe...
