Re: Engine Fire with B-190

Sorry to read of your incident, but glad you are safe. I would think it is repairable. Problem will be how to get it somewhere to do that. I had a similar incident, but no fire going through the mountains on I-75 in Tennessee. My engine started racing and I looked in the rear view mirror and saw smo...

Re: Furniture replacement vs. re-upholstery

Ref. Replacement seats with belts attached: be advised that seatbelts are engineered as a system. The load path through the new seats to old adjusters and floor pan may exceed the strength of those parts.

Re: Sofa Replacement

I am resurrecting this thread, as the sofa bottom cushion on our 2nd b190 is getting uncomfortable and a spring wire has popped through the fabric. Have not done much searching yet, but possibly one of us has replaced the bottom and/or back and can supply details.

Re: Traveling across the entire USA.

Thanks for posting the wall heater pic. Neat idea Ref. The long trip. From personal experience I would do the following: Make sure front brake calipers are in good shape. From years of not much use they can gum/corrode up and not retract the pads properly. Have the alternator tested. We have lost 2 ...

Re: Windows leaking

I used the same parts with very little problem(disclaimer- I ordered the part nos. listed on our forum thread and assume they are the same ones you ordered). Helps to have them pretty warm and soaped up. I did have one slight kink at a corner. You have to stretch it some in the corners. Those don't ...

Re: Front shocks

I don't know how you know only the fronts need replacing. I did all 4 last fall and all 4 were worn, original Ford shocks. You might try a local community college with an auto tech program. Sometimes they will install for free as a training project for their students. BTW, it is a terrible job even ...

Re: Fridge 12v control wiring

As I recall, there are 2 electric heating elements. One is 110 volt and the other 12 volt. Access is by removing the sheetmetal cover. Should be able to test each with an ohmeter. If all wiring is hooked up, I would suspect a bad heating element. Need to disconnect the 12 volt wires to test the elem...

Re: Generator stops operating heat strip and microwave

If you have an AC voltmeter you can check to see that you are getting 120 volts out of the generator(or whatever it is supposed to be). I did this by taking an old cord with a plug on it and connecting the bare wires to the meter while the generator was running. Possibly if it is not in the correct ...

Thanks for the story Kentuckian. We have a 98 Tracker auto w/4 wheel drive. Where did you get the tow bar setup?

Re: Water heater drainage hole leaking

Good reply above. It looks like the valve is open to me. Maybe a heat gun with some penetrating oil will get it closed. Since we don't usually drink the hot water, a little oil should not hurt anything. As said above, don't bugger it up so bad that an "expert" won't want to fix it. I would...

Re: Electrical system background

Don't know where your RV battery is, but should be able to disconnect the positive and put an ammeter in there to see how much current is being drawn. Then start pulling fuses until there is no current draw. My guess is your fridge could be on the 12v setting and running the battery down. Before any...

Re: DISC BRAKES!?!

I am on my 2nd B190. The first, a 91, had been sitting for quite a while before I bought it. Our first trip resulted in the smoking front brakes you describe. Fortunately we were near a brake shop(good one) that replaced both front calipers, as they were not fully releasing. They said this can happe...
