Re: B190 Bunk dimensions
Hi, Recently purchased a 1996 missing the upper bed slider part. would like to fabricate one, if i could get some pics without mattress. would like to know oem mattress depth for the bunk as well. Hi AkSled, did you get that done? If not, do you still need photos? I can provide some from my '96 if ...

Re: Leaking propane out the fill valve
OK, it's been a while but I'll add a question to this post, because I think this is what is wrong with my B190 (1996). The problem for me is getting the screw that holds the handle out--it is locked on there but good and is a round head machine screw, so I can't use a socket. The star drive is nearl...

Re: Propane tank removal
Hey Rugster, Who did you have do the work? I've got a similar problem with a leaking shut-off valve, and LP places say they won't work on the chassis-mounted tank, and RV places say they don't do LP, or it's too old (1996) for their shop. I'm now just thinking about doing the work myself--looks fair...

Running board coming loose...fixes?
My driver's side running board is getting a bit loose, and when I looked at the screws holding it in, two of them were rusted so badly that they weren't much beyond just a screwhead. Airstream took a quick and easy path in assembly here, using self-tapping hex-head screws to affix the running boards...

Camping...just beyond the campground, and how to navigate washboard roads comfortably in the B
Here's a perhaps obvious tip but it took me a while to figure it out. I like to find Forest Service or similar federal campgrounds, then drive the FS road just past them to camp. Usually, within a mile, there are lots of campsites off the road. Many of them are just spectacular with access to the at...

Re: Campground suggestions
Those are indeed great places. Just a minor spelling note, though I think the Googles would know what you meant: Port Townshend and Fort Worden. My buddy owns a Road Trek 190 and often goes from Seattle to PT, camping on the street right in front of his favorite coffee shop (of course, this was in t...

Resealing roof vent
Not too bad a job, I have to recommend the videos from myrvworks.com, because they are terrific. I had a leak that eventually caused me to redo the ceiling in the front half of the Turtle. There's another series on that. The leak was coming from the passenger rear corner, where the scraper is in the...

Re: Replaced ceiling in front of van
I also took the opportunity to take apart the fan, clean it, and get the fan cover crank reattached correctly. It cleans up nicely, and wasn't too hard to do. This whole ceiling project was spread over Fall to Spring, after I had sealed the outer leak on the roof, which I'll post on a different thre...

Re: Replaced ceiling in front of van
Note that I didn't take the side-to-side furring strips all the way to the end, nor did they go all the way to the old ceiling at midship. I also didn't put spray foam there. This was to allow for enough room to allow the ceiling panels to flex with the curve of the roof and intersect with the top o...

Re: Replaced ceiling in front of van
I thought that 1" poly board would fill the "honeycomb" voids, but it was thicker than it needed to be--1/2" would have been fine, but I wanted as much insulation up there as I could get without lowering the ceiling from the original. The fiberglass work on the inside of the roof...

Re: Replaced ceiling in front of van
The old panels and insulation were kind of gross, but I was able to salvage the plywood for making a template for the new ceiling. While Airstream was able to use a full side to side panel, that was probably during construction and prior to the van being full of built-ins--I couldn't fit a side-to-s...

Replaced ceiling in front of van
The previous owner had some leaking around the fan in the front of the van and after a couple years of my ownership the silicone repair work failed and I had some leaking again at the fan. Once I started looking around in there it was clear that 1) the plywood around the fan was shot, water damaged,...

Re: Toilet odor when driving
I've also put the enzyme tablets/packets used in the toilet down the sink, to control odors in the gray water tank. Agreed on keeping all the traps full of water, including the terlet.

Re: What did you name your camper?
The Turtle, but the plate is TOURTLE, and with a few GD stickers on there we get asked if we toured with the band. Alas, no.
