Wiring Diagrams for bat bank, trimetric and solar upgrades
UPDATED MAY 16 TO CORRECT A MINOR ERROR IN THE PHASE 2 AND 3 WIRING DIAGRAMS. THE ORIGINAL DIAGRAMS DEPICTED 2 WIRES CONNECTING THE FRAME GROUND TO THE LOAD SIDE OF THE SHUNT. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 1 For those of you looking at various electrical upgrades I thought I'd share my experiences and wiring...

Re: Rain water seeping under refrigerator.
Are you sure the water is coming in thru the refrigerator door and not thru the A/C?
I had a leak thru the A/C vents which would put the water right in front of the refrigerator door. Leaky A/C units are quite common are fairly easily fixed.

Re: Replacing the water tank
Mark, on my 93 B190 the fresh water tank is under the two drawers to the left of the kitchen sink. Essentially, if your enter the camper through the right side of the double doors it is behind the left door buried in the cabinetry. The only tanks outside are the grey and black water tanks in the ver...

Re: Solar Panel Mounting and Roof Composition
Cliff, My 93 B190 is stored in a nice warm cave during the winter so the solar upgrade I'm doing won't be completed until mid May. I've been doing a lot of research on the best way to mount the solar panels and will use one of these products. I don't want to put holes in the roof since the fiberglas...

Re: Replacing the converter
Joel, The PD4655 does not have separate charge circuits for 2 batteries. In my research of possible converter replacements I did not see any converters offering separate charge circuits. I fielded a question last fall regarding how the alternator charge current would get to each battery bank given t...

Re: Microwave removal
Eric,
Thanks for the tip. I was starting to look at this last fall. After I couldn't figure out how to get the microwave out I just shelved the idea of replacing it.
If you replaced the microwave, do you remember what you replaced the microwave with?
Mike

Re: Replacing the converter
I'm in the process of working on a similar upgrade to my 93 b190. I upgraded the converter to a pd4655, installed a battery switch and 120 amp breaker to support a new battery bank I will install in April once I pull the b190 out of storage. For me, I wanted to be able to use the battery switch to s...

Re: I need with a battery...
I am working on similar projects to replace the converter, add a battery bank and a solar array on the roof. I've completed a the converter upgrade and am working on the battery bank install and solar array. These projects are currently on hold while the 93 B190 is in storage. One of the things I co...

Re: converter
Yes. The converter is always on when plugged in to shore power or the generator is running. If the b190 is still using the original Magnetek 6332 converter it will tend to overcharge the house battery if continuously plugged in during prolonged periods, like winter storage. The Magnetek is a single ...

Re: What B190 project are you working on?
Kentuckian, I'm working on a number of projects all of which are on hold while the B190 is in storage weathering the Midwest winter in a limestone cave. In early April the B190 will emerge and I will continue working on a number of projects I have already started and hope to start and finish before ...

Solar Panel Mounting and Roof Composition
As part of an electrical system upgrade I'm doing on my 93 B190 I'm looking at adding a solar system to keep my 3 100amp batteries charged. I think I will consume 50-75 amp/hrs per day and believe the following configuration should be ample to keep the batteries charged. 2 - Kyocera KD140 140 watt 1...

Re: Coach Battery SLOW Drain
Marko, I recently completed upgrading the converter, adding a trimetric monitor and a battery switch in preparation for adding a battery bank ( 1 battery under the couch & 2 batteries under the stove) so I can do more dry camping. When I was making these upgrades I encountered a second 12ga wire...

Re: Trimetric installation
Eric, Thanks for the reply and looking at this for me! In regards to the alternator current getting to the battery bank in the back this is how I think this will work. When the engine is running the battery under the hood gets charged via the alternator. No change for airstream original design. The ...

Re: Trimetric installation
Here's a much simpler diagram then the one posted in the top part of this topic image.jpg Please note the 2 batteries (battery bank 2) and all the dashed red and black lines will be installed in the spring as phase 2 of this electrical upgrade project. The black line running from the frame ground th...

Re: Trimetric installation
Eric, What I've got in place is simply phase 1 for adding more house battery capacity. I can't really justify adding 3 AGM batteries now just to place the b190 in storage for 5 months. So I added the major components: battery switch, shunt, converter upgrade and trimetric monitor, etc now so in the ...
