Looks the same on my 93 just replaced it all and added a resonater it really helped quiet it down. DavidP has given you good advice it does make a big difference i took mine to the local muffler shop $65 i supplied the resonater hanger and chrome tip. Amozon has it all. I agree it could be your heating element and dont get in a hurry to check it let it sit over night or at least 10-12 hours just to be sure your not rushing it its not like a freon system this uses ammonia its very efficient but its a sealed system and can not be served on YouTube you can find videos...

Sounds like a great trip you may want to also look at some golf cart battery's under the bed modification the two i have will run all lighting and fans furnace and tv about four days with one solar panel charging. Tow my 94 bronco behind my 93 190 it is 5200 lbs it pulls great i can feel it on the hills a little i wired the harnes to a eight pin plug for the factory plug on the van it also solved my storage problem.
