Faucet Repair

I had a problem with my faucet last year and after taking off the front of the unit, it looked as though the only access was from the oven side. I didn't have the time to mess with the oven and instead put a gob of repair stick I purchased at Home Depot around the area that was leaking and it seemed...

Campspots

We have stayed at walmarts, truckstops and campgrounds and even freeway on and off ramps if the need for sleep came up. I think the post about streetsmarts was right on. Two things you might check on depending upon your age might be to get a golden passport for most of your Nat'l campgrounds and the...

Catalytic Converters Update

Just a note on the above. We think the Cat replacement solved the problem. Over a 1000 miles and no glitches. See under "Drivetrain , Fuel Pump Problems"

Catalytic's vs Fuel Pump Problem

Just an update. We put on over a 1000 miles this last week from going to yellowstone to scatter some ashes and then hitting various sites in Idaho for one or two day stays. The van never had a glitch except for the cruise kicking in or out on some of the uphill climbs. We cruised along at 65 for the...

Catalytic Converters

They replaced both units ($200+ Per Unit) I didn't think about asking that question as the way it was explained to me I got the impression that they were pretty well shot. The shop guy said something like "cats don't die, they get killed" so to me it was kind of a moot question. I don't ev...

fuel pumps vs catalytic converters

Just for information, check out my latest post in the drivetrain forum concerning fuel pump problems as it might not be a fuel pump we are experienceing but could be a catalytic converter problem instead.

Fuel Pump Problems

There has been quite a bit of info etc. on these fuel pumps and the problems associated with them. I have had my share as well and with the last problems was told that I had three pumps ( in the two tanks and one on the frame that was actually a high pressure pump to get the fuel to the engine). The...

Insulation

Hi Goinmobile, I don't know what others have done but a couple of things that I have done during the winters here in Utah if we go out are as follows. I have cut styrofoam pieces that fit inside of the compartment vents so that we do not get the cold air coming in while we are driving, I put a piece...

fixture replacement

This might seem like a dim-wit reply but have you checked to make sure the light tubes are good. When we purchased our van, the overhead light did not work and we too, checked for power, found that we had power and then bought new tubes and haven't had a problem since.

Fuel Pump info

Just for information, I have been checking out cost and replacement for my 91 since I am starting to experience the same problems as others with stalling etc. The shop I took my van to gave me a copy of a recall issued 06/26/1991 with the following info. Stalls or Quits 4.9L, 5.8L, 7.5L-fuel pump va...

Food for Thought

The other day I received a message from Keystone (Cecile) and she stated that she had made a blueberry pie in the van's oven and that it turned out great. It got me to thinking about other recipes and things to cook but I wondered just how many owners use their stove and oven to actually cook with r...

tire rack

Hi Bobbyv, My van is a 91 with an outside rack that attaches like the one you describe but it came standard with the vehicle. I have never had a problem other than using a little muscle to get a tire on or off (once to change a flat in the driveway).

B-17

It will be interesting to see any photos, my father in law who lives with us was a B-17 pilot and instructor pilot before going over to England with the 8th Army Air Corps. We have quite an air museum here in Utah at Hill Air Force Base that has many, many, aircraft. We took dad there a couple of yea...
