some summer ideas

Well it finally looks as though summer has arrived, what with all the rain, flooding etc. I thought it would never get here. We in Utah even had snow storms in June and we are a desert (or supposed to be) state. Anyway, the farmers markets are starting to open but some of the summer items are going ...

Refrigerator

Skater, your probably right on, I don't know what the costs are for either one if a person was looking for a replacement and whether or not you would recoup the cost over the time used. I do know that we have not had a problem and most of our camping is done in "primitive" or slightly impr...

Refrigerator

After reading all this stuff, I'm glad I don't have to go through all the hoops for something cold to drink or eat. The previous owner installed a home unit that runs on A.C. (see previous post, Refrigerator Info June 11, 2009). He probably went through some of the same things others are going throu...

lucky us

After a day of kayaking we returned home late last night. When I went out to move the van, I had a right rear tire that was flat. I assembled the tools and after trying to jack the van with the I suppose bottle jack that came with the van, found that I wasn't going to get enough height to get the ti...

Modification

I like what you did. Probably I will try something like that the next time one of the daughters brings it back broken. I had to replace the whole shabang as the bottom half of the black water valve was toast. not a bad job and it took longer to get the parts than to put it back together.

dump valve replacement

Finally replaced the dump valves today since I let one of my daughters borrow the van over the weekend and I guess she bottomed the assembly out, just a small drip but steady and so I thought why not. I read the above comments a while back when they were posted and wasn't looking forward to the job ...

Kayak rack

In another post (appliances, water heater reline or repair) I mentioned shopping around and finally using local resources in finding a decent unit at a great price and warranty. While looking in the local postings I also checked out hitch mounted racks and found a guy that will weld one up for me th...

water heater

Well,I hope this will be my last post on this subject. As noted in above posts, Alaskan did a great write up, enableing a person to easily repair a damaged water heater and/or water tank. Following his instructions it was no problem geting the unit out, in fact, I think the hardest part of the job i...

re-line tank

Your right Alaskan, I called Atwood today and talked to a rep that said the only difference is the heat exchanger tube on the back and either one could be used. He could not give an answer as to the price differences noted with the various sites and why the 42 might be cheaper on some sites and the ...

Kayak's

We have for the past years, used Sevylor inflatables and have never had a problem with taking eight inflatable kayaks and one four man raft because they fold up into a nice small package. This year, however, we purchased two eight foot-sit on top-kayaks that are hard bodies. There have been a couple...

Waterheater

Thank you for the reply's. Upon further inspection, it was not the relief valve but a split in the tank around the threaded area of the relief valve so it appeared to be the valve that was leaking. I have googled various sites for a re-line tank and it pays to shop around as there are quite a few pr...

short update

after posting to Skater I did a search and did find that Atwood does offer either a cardboard and blanket insulation kit or a foam unit like the one pictured by Alaskan. They are priced about 8 and 15 dollars respectively so I may have to re-think the solution to my problem and maybe use the money s...

water tank

I thought about that option but after pulling all the insulation off looking for another leak as the whole cardboard backing was wet, I figure I might as well replace the tank seeing as it's what about 20 yr's old and I'm going to have to take the unit out to either reinsulate with batting or try to...
