Waterheater Replacement

Well we took the van to a small ceremony honoring WW II vets which my father in law is (B-17 pilot) and upon turning on the water pump so the grand kids could use the toilet, we discovered a huge leak coming from the water heater, specifically, around the pressure releif valve. After tearing the car...

DVR Recording

This is just some info that probably some people already know but for those that don't, here goes. We have dish network with a main dvr box and a second box for another hookup in a third bedroom. Usually when we go for awhile, we take that extra box, a tripod and another dish receiver so that we can...

Refrigerator info

In reading all the posts, I thought I'd refer folks to a June 2009 post in the appliances forum that I made. I've been running with the fridge for a couple of years now and have never had a problem with keeping things cold and frozen even in the middle of the desert during the summer. I am however, ...

Meatloaf

Hi Alaskan, meatloaf seems to be one of those food items that can be cooked anyway you want to be creative. It can be a plain loaf of ground meat or flavored with your choice of spices, you can add veggies, cheese, crackers, bread or anything else you like. You can glaze it with ketchup, brown sugar...

what year is best

Sorry Folks, we were trying for a little humor but I guess no one got it. the reply was in refrence to a very cheap red wine and pabst blue ribbon beer, as being very good years for the drink not the van.

easy doughnuts and stuffing rolls with bacon

Well it's the new year and I'm still waiting for some new recipes! Does anyone else eat homecooked or is it all fast food? I know the answer so come on and share some of those recipes. After receiving a doughnut cutter from the grandkids for Christmas, it was expected that papa would immediatly make...

Bubble wrap insulation

With the winter season upon us, I was looking into buying a roll of aluminum faced bubble wrap insulation from a local trailer supply dealer so that I could cut it to size for the windows in order to keep the heat in when we were camping out this winter. The cost was pretty expensive for a 10' roll ...

oven thermometer

Just a note to say that I purchased a small thermometer from one of the local food stores that either hangs or sits on the oven shelf and only cost a little over $5. works great and will now be used in place of the woodstove temp gauge.

staying in rest areas

My wife and I have never had a problem when we've been on the road and had to stop for a rest or nights sleep. We have used roadside rest stops, walmart and sideroads. I think a person has to exercise their individual good judgement and do things like locking the doors, seeing who is knocking at the...

stuffed Biscuits

Hi Keystone, as a matter of fact I have used the oven to make biscuits using the recipe from an earlier post (comfort food) and they turned out well. The only problem is getting the temp right as my oven shows the temp setting but does not tell you when it reaches the correct temp setting, so I use ...

Stuffed Biscuits

The other morning after a suprise visit by my daughter and the twins, I had to come up with something simple, quick and good. I guess the biscuits hit the spot as there were no leftovers. This obviously will be appealing to some and not to others. Biscuits (store bought, homemade or frozen) One hams...

Baker, Nev.

Robert, you are right about this place, we have been there often. You forgot to mention the Lehman Cave which is quite an experience with the stalactites and stalagmites. If you like pine nuts (I do,Ido) it's a great place to harvest the cones and then take them home to dry out until they shed the n...

Welcome, You mentioned about an oil change to synthetic, I don't know about others and what they run but an experience I had with synthetic made me a firm beliver in not using it and just doing regular oil changes.
