Re: Solar Geeks Needed

If I was going to buy a 300 watt inverter today, this is the one I would buy. It is pricey, but has many advantages over less expensive inverters. It is pure sine wave so there is no risk of it not being able to power sensitive electronic devices as might be the case with a less expensive modified s...

Re: Air Conditioner Capacitor

Great news that your new capacitor has you up and running! Glad you got buy with the cheaper solution! As far as sealants... I have taken to using "3M Marine Adhesive/Sealant Fast Cure 5200" for anything on the exterior. It is of the polyurethane family of sealants, sticks very well, stays...

Re: Air Conditioner Capacitor

Not a direct answer to your question... However, it is related. EasyStart is a soft start controller designed to dramatically reduce the start up surge current of the compressor motor. https://www.microair.net/collections/easystart-soft-starters There are some informative videos on youtube that show...

Re: Solar Geeks Needed

If you have not already purchased the MPPT controller, I would take a look at Bogart Engineering's Trimetric power meter and their new solar charge controller. Like 190-b-651, I also use the Trimetric meter. Liked it so much, I am on my third install with Bogart's hardware. Among the good points of ...

Re: Solar Geeks Needed

Great questions. Q1) But can we hook things up so if we do run the generator it will charge the old house battery AND top off the AGM's? A1) Yes Q2) Is that even possible to wire? A2) Yes, it can be wired to accomplish that. However, you would be choosing to use dissimilar batteries so it goes beyon...

Re: Buying it back...

Sorry to hear that it didn't hold temperature. Seems notable that it got down to temperature in a seemingly normal fashion and then couldn't hold it.

When the fridge temp was 60 degrees, what was the temperature of the freezer compartment?

Re: Buying it back...

Just to pass along a tip... While I had the fridge out of the B190, I stapled my fiberglass batting to the inside walls and ceiling of the fridge cavity in the cabinetry of the B190. The batting I used had paper on one side and plastic sheeting on the other side. The fridge just slid right in making...

Re: Buying it back...

Skater, Great that you can run experiments on it while its out of the B190. Nice to be able to access the back to work on baffles, fans and such. I am not sure how much difference fine tuning the baffle placement would make. However, the baffle instructions for my Norcold place the start of the lowe...

Re: Generator door

Not too long ago, i installed new locks on my generator bay and fresh water door. I bought a set of 4 cam locks that all used the same key. Sorry, I don't remember where I bought them from. However, you can find them online at many of the RV parts supply companies or even Amazon. Search for... Cam L...

Re: Buying it back...

I'll pass this link along in case its helpful. These folks seem to have some level of knowledge about fan mods on our absorption fridges. I have no personal experience with them but they may be of interest to you? Also, there are several threads on IRV2 forums about mods adding fans to absorption fr...

It sounds like your unit is working. I usually see freezer reaching temp in hours and the fridge section reaches temp in a day. Yes, it is a Norcold N300.3. There is an install thread here... https://b190.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1036&hilit=norcold I added the baffles, insulation and bug scre...

Re: Buying it back...

If you haven't already, you might want to confirm that your B190 is configured with the manufacturer's latest installation recommendations. For example, on our Norcold, the installation manual recommends adding insulation batting in the spaces on the sides and top and also has specific recommendatio...

Re: Just bought a B190...now what?

Safety item... tires Check the condition and age of the tires. Maintain tire inflation pressure at the levels recommended by Airstream. The previous owners may not have driven your new (to you) RV very much so the tread may look great. However, the tires could be older than recommended for safety. C...
