Re: Increasing Overall capacity of the fuel tanks

OK, so I did run my tank dry today ('96 with the 460 and a 4x4 conversion). Last time I filled up, I carefully reset the trip odometer. I have a back rack that slides into the 2" hitch receiver on which I carry an external generator. Therefore, I use the built-in generator space for four, two-g...

Yes, great idea, always fun to see the new projects that UJOINT creates that are posted on their website and that suspension kit from Agile is a nice set-up.

Re: New Wheels and Tires--a shopping opportunity

Also, at Boulder 4x4, Don was really stressing tires with strong sidewalls for our vans as when they are loaded up they are heavy heavy. Mine are also "E" rated which I think is also important. I really like how the 17's look and grip, so far so good. The bfg's are well known for strong si...

Re: Sprinter chassis experience out there?

Before I purchased my '96 I did a lot of research on Sprinter vans and 4x4. The '05 and '06 years seemed to be recommended for several reasons dealing with simpler engines. There are always one or two for sale on ebay for around $40,000, usually the Itasca or Minnie Winnie versions or straight up va...

Re: New Wheels and Tires--a shopping opportunity

Keystone, here is a good review of some off road tires http://expeditionportal.com/where-the-rubber-meets-the-road/ from expedition portal with some really helpful information. I have generally understood that alum alloy wheels are lighter and make the vehicle more maneuverable while steel wheels ar...

Yep, the youtube video was very helpful. Disconnect the gas, unscrew four bolts, and it slides right out. :D

Removing the Oven

Has anyone tried removing the oven? In my '96 it is on the same side as the sink and opposite the fridge and microwave. I want to take it out and move everything to the the right--that will open up the areas in front of the door and still provide drawer space where the oven was. I will use a small c...

Re: Vail, Las Vegas, Sedona,Grand Canyon, Moab

Well, there you go! All sorts of intriguing possibilities on the 4x4 front. Boulder OffRoad in Lafayette, CO (where I and others have had it done) and the guys at UJOINT in North Carolina (who seem to be doing some really interesting work and have a photo of a B190 4x4 on their website), and... Oh, ...

Re: Awnings on late model 190's?

I have the same awning on my 1996 as nvestysly. I just purchased an "Add-A-Room" from the Bus Depot http://www.busdepot.com/addg I will send some pics of the set-up soon. The awning is very helpful--usually set it up with a little angle to let rain run off. We had it up during a pretty rou...
