Re: Meet our pets
love the pet hammock idea. nice to know other people out there are not "pet owners" but rather their pet's staff.

Re: Meet our pets
I like the idea of posting pics of our pets and have been meaning to do it for some time. Sorry I couldn't get the pics to stand upright. This is Betsy who is, we are told, a Pug/Lab mix.We adopted her from a shelter when she was two and she had her 17 birthday earlier this month. Lucky for us she a...

Re: winterizing
I have a friend in Asheville I often stop to visit with my rig. I'd be very interested in the detailer' name and price if you end up happy with the work. I've bought some striping and wheels to take the old stuff off but made kind of a mess, even taking paint off and my first attempt to put the big ...

Re: SOLAR OPTIONS
Nandi, I meant Goal Solar as the company to check out, not GoSolar. Pricey but neat stuff. I have the 400w solar generator which is my backup to house battery. Has A.C. outlet so I can run my 110 cord directly in and power heater or anything from 110 outlets, but not A/C. It fits behind drivers seat...

Re: winterizing
I'm seeing a shutoff that stops the cold from entering hot water tank but I can't see a shut off on the hot water pipe coming out of the tank or a connection (by pass) between cold lines and hot lines like the diagram Skater posted. Do you see that arrangement? Somehow the cold line, after it routes...

Re: SOLAR OPTIONS
Using alligator clips and a solar panel works but you would be safer (at least in my opinion) to have a simple charge controller between panel and battery. I have used this portable system for 25 years because I like the flexibility of chasing the sun around, especially if I'm parked under trees. Yo...

Re: winterizing
And Skater, the wet vac isn't to get the remaining water it is to get all the deposits that settle in the tank and shorten its life, particularly if you have electric option. First time I learned about it I did mine and I'm guessing there was a 1/4" of crud on the bottom. Just passing along a p...

Re: winterizing
Yes, I should have mentioned that about antifreeze in fresh water tank. Forgot because we have never drank water stored there, just a personal preference. Always had a few gallon jugs that we would fill at campgrounds and they store nicely on the step behind the second side door. It is hard to drain...

Re: interior modifications
Needs to be plugged. It is Pex tubing most likely. PEX makes special plugs but you crimp them on with special rings and a special tool. Unless you plan to start doing more plumbing you may want to ask friends who have a big tool box if they have a tool and a couple of rings. Backup is you can rent t...

Re: winterizing
The water pump runs off 12v so you can run it off your house battery and you definately want to protect the pump by pumping antifreeze from the fresh water tank. I ve by passed the hot water heater now but before that I drained all the water the way described above, including taking plug off hot wat...

Re: interior modifications
I would recommend removing it in a way that allows it to be replaced, assuming some time down the road you will want to sell it. I did this with the generator on mine, I removed it, sealed and painted the inside and capped all the wires and sealed fuel line. I love the extra space and have never use...

Re: Power Enough
Makes me feel better hearing this. I have a mechanic that said for all the cu the 460 has it really doesn't have the umph you would expect. I was suspecting catalytic converter and at one point going to jam a bunch of holes in it to see if it helped. But like you I have just learned to drive it diff...

Re: Fuel Selector Switch....
I never did fix mine before tucking it away but I did go out and fill both tanks before driving it to storage(about 30 miles) and as long as I kept switching tanks I was able to keep it from overflowing. The switch under the dash does switch tanks through the big control valve (size of a big oil fil...
