Looking for Transmission Dipstick for B190
Looking for Transmission Dipstick for B190
My airstream is built on the 1990 E-350 with the overdrive transmission (E4OD). Apparently at some point the transmission fluid dipstick on my van was replaced with one from the wrong vehicle.
Somehow it has a dipstick from a 1987 Van, which is too short -- this led recently to a shop adding way to much transmission fluid, which has been coming out of the overflow valve, and burning up on the exhaust -- a major hassle.
Does anyone know of a 1990 or 1991 van that is being parted out and might have the right dipstick? I've tried Ford, and a bunch of junkyards so far without any luck.
The part number is E9UP-7A020-BB or E9UZ-7A020-B
Thanks,
-Eli

Maybe watch ebay...
put a "Wanted" ad in your local craigslist in the auto parts section
I just checked the measurement on my 1991 and it measures 52" not counting the handle so I suspect that is what you are looking for.
Also checked my 2 other B190 (97 & 99) and guess what...they are 58".. !
Might give these guys a call..

The problem with cutting one down is the neat little end they have...let me look at that a little closer....
Stay tuned, and a picture...
btw, the later ones are not flat metal, its round wire with a white plastic end....which makes it much easier to read... !

Shortening one would be easy...not on the bottom
The diameter of the material is about 1/16"...
I'd clip it up at near the top (8 inches down) lay them side-by-side, and put a little silver soldier on it in two places
And...I did check and the inside diameter of the dipstick tube is the same.
As the E350 is still being produced you might just be able to order a new dipstick from Ford if you decide to shorten one...or it might be easier to find in used parts
The newer round-wire dipstick goes down the tube much easier than the flat metal one... !

Do your newer dipsticks have a ford part number on them I could use for ordering? Otherwise I might be able to order one with the last part of your VIN - I think they need the final 6 characters.
Thanks!
Thanks!
