Any tips on how to stay cool while boondocking? Where both heat and bugs are an issue?

Oh small detail—the previous owner took out the generator so that’s not an option. I’m considering constructing an awning for the sunny side so that might help.

I picked up some cheap Walmart sliding door bugscreens, the kind with magnets to auto-close it again after you walk through? Then got some magnets to stick around the outside edge of the doorframe for the entry door and the rear doors. relatively cheap and easy bug protection!

Opens up the interior to a lot of airflow, and keeps the bugs out. Other than that... a 3000 watt inverter-generator will run the AC. ;-). The Honda 2200s aren't quite powerful enough for the stock AC unit, I found during my testing.

We made bug screens for the front windows with some screen material and magnets. They work great!

I had read - and tried once (it seemed to work) - to close the windows/doors/shades on the side of the van the sun is shining on, and open everything on the other side. Did that at a festival last spring and it did seem to keep some airflow going through the van!
