Sewer Hose Door

Post by BuddyR »

Does anyone have a source to buy a new sewer hose access door and frame replacement?
Seems like it may have been modified to fit the curve of the van. Mine is brittle and has chipped edges.
Thanks.

Mine is a little different to. I haven't replaced the sewer door yet but did the electric cord door and found a exact match on amazon. The only hose that fits in that compartment is the cheap hose that came with mine. I've been thinking about trying to put in a new tube and door that would let me fit the newer type of hose. The ends are larger and the door isn't large enough but im not sure if there is enough room between the black water tank and the floor for a larger pvc tube to fit.

I changed the electric door to an Aluminum plate and a chassis connector so the cord is separate. The old power cord was a mess and it gets tweaked stuffing it under the tub. It works well.

This was a mod I always wanted to do to mine, and I never got around to it. If nothing else, it'd be nice not having that open airway to the outside to reduce draftiness in the bathroom. Also, if you camp in cold weather, you could easily upgrade to a cord that remains flexible in cold temperatures.

I want to do it to our trailer, too.

I went that way with the power cord, as well. However, I went with a chrome marine installation. The old door wouldn't stay shut and seemed like easy access for rodents and bugs. This works great!

Does the chrome cover screw closed, or is it spring loaded, too? (I know the power connection is right there, so the goal of stopping bugs/rodents is met, I'm just curious how the cover works.)

I understand that the electric cord placement going in and out of the camper is "technique sensitive". Did you do this work yourself or did you get a camping store or electrician to do the conversion. I would have an easier time wrapping the cord up outside the camper and placing it more carefully in the space. The way it is now I start entering the cord in the space and then open the door to make sure it is not pushing or pulling too much on the plumbing. Oftentimes, I have to withdraw the electric cord to make sure it does not cause a problem with the piping which would cause leaks.

My sewer door is also chipped and faded. However, it does look different than the picture. I will keep looking...it is the rounded or curved on the edges.
