Water fill/Generator compartment keys

Post by skater »

Would someone please post a picture of the key(s) used for the water fill/generator locks? I’m especially interested in ones from around the 1991 year, since that’s what I have.

The keys for ours were lost, and I’m not sure what to order to replace it. Replacing the locks would be a major problem on the generator compartment - it looks like the locks were installed before the back side of the door was put on.

Here’s a picture of the water fill lock. The ones on the generator door look the same.

Thanks!

Danke.

Edit: The CH751 is a very common key - quite a few brands use it, and have for years.

My fill/Gen comp keys are the same :| , not sure if someone switched locks over the past 27 years. My one key for both says MAG on one side and 838 on the other and is not cut at all like 190-b-651's

Turns out I already have a CH751 key, it's the water fill on our trailer. It doesn't match either of the locks on the B190. Therefore, I'm guessing my missing keys are like yours.

I'm not sure mine are the same though. I wish I could remember.

I received a copy of Choptop's key today, thanks! Unfortunately, it's not the right key, either.

I've come to the conclusion that the water fill and generator use different keys - the generator key is narrower.

I see the keyhole is horizontal but when it’s locked it should be vertical. Could it just be jammed or stuck? Tried any wd40?

The lock works fine - I can "pick" it easily with a small screwdriver and open the latch (which it apparently was when I took that picture). Oddly enough, the key Choptop sent me, if inserted upside down, will turn that lock - but obviously that's not how it's supposed to work. And it won't fit the generator compartment lock at all (too thick), despite the fact that they look the same.

Maybe have to replace the whole unit. Here’s one for $15.59. Sort of an expensive key though!

And the wrong color. :( It also doesn't solve the generator door issue. I was considering something like this, but I haven't given up on the key idea yet.

Have to laugh, not really, when the shipping is over half of what the item costs!
Funny how my key worked both locks but different years, different locks.

Then they’d all be keyed the same. Good idea.

I’m hesitating for two reasons. 1, I’m not sure that they’ll work with the thin material (i.e., I might not be able to tighten them enough), and 2, it looks fairly difficult to replace the locks in the generator door.

Deco-A turned out to be the right key for the water fill! These are the ones I bought. Just one left to figure out...
