Bye, bye sewer hose door

Post by Oldbagpipe »

The stock door drove me crazy. Never stays shut and only holds a hose so short that I have to drive on the curb at rest stops. Well, that all changed. today...Here is a before and after. It really opened up the storage area too! I'll do the paint this fall/winter when I have other areas to be addressed.

I'm going to finish this 'project' this weekend and will post some additional photos. My wife thinks I'm crazy....she's probably correct...

I will be interested in the pictures. My 89 compartment opening will not fit connection to the dump in the small space provided. The configurations may be different. I would be interested in how all of this fit in the available space.

"Abie Sea", I've got a little more work to do this weekend before I post any more photos. However, I will say, in the storage compartment below the shower seat, I have a plastic container holding a new 15' sewer hose and gloves, I've got my fresh water hose, and a standard tool box tucked away as well. I've got one more thing yet to attach. I'm just north of you in Bellingham, if you ever want to see anything. My 'dump' connection is on the outside, below.

I've always put the sewer hose in that compartment, just feeding it in from the back door. Always had to make sure the cat wasn't escaping, though!

Oddly, the sewer hose door on my '96 leads to...the frame rails. With an older hose that had slightly smaller fittings, I was able to wire some corrugated flexible drainage pipe under the van, angling from drivers rear to passenger front and across. There was nothing but a door and a hole, so I connected the drainage pipe behind the door and voila. However, my new sewer hose doesn't fit in the pipe with fittings and I don't want to be taking them off every time. So it goes under the shower from the back of the van.

Oldbagpipe, I noticed you have some kind of reddish staining under your taillight. I could send you a purple UW sticker to cover it up if you'd like.
We're in Seattle, maybe we'll see you on the road someday!
