Closing up the old vent holes

Post by nessab190 »

I'm trying to figure out how to seal up the large (up to 1' x 2') holes left by removing the stove and heaters? I was thinking about sanding down the mating surfaces and just epoxying on a big piece of sheet metal. Anyone have a better idea or done anything like this before?

I could also screw on metal or wood so it would be removable, but I like the idea of a permanent repair better.

Thanks!

It's regular automotive bodywork. I think the preferred solution for something like that is to weld in a piece of metal, grind the weld, prime and paint.

Thanks Skater,

I don't have a welder unfortunately so it's going to have to be an option similar to one of the two I mentioned in the op. Maybe you would know if the white coating inside the van can be epoxied or glued to directly. I'm hoping to not have to sand down to bare metal as there are a lot of vent holes I need to cover.

Thanks

I have no idea about the interior - my first thought was Liquid Nails or something similar, but I don't know how well it will work.
