Winterized!

Post by skater »

Got the camper winterized today - didn't take very long, either. I was able to get away with using 6 gallons of RV antifreeze (actually less, but I dumped the extra into the two holding tanks).

Since my driveway slopes away from the house, I turned the camper around and pulled it into the center of the driveway so that it would be level side to side, and the liquid in the fresh water tank would slope toward the pickup for the pump. That helped a LOT over last year, where I just tried to get it as level as possible but it was still down at the front. I guess it does get easier with experience. :)

I took some pictures of why a water heater bypass on our campers is hard to do - basically the fitting that screws into the back of the water heater is an elbow and can't turn without the pipe that's connected to it being cut, which means you'll either need to find a crimper to re-crimp it, or use those Qest fittings to replace it. I'll post the pics later.

Edit: Pictures posted in the gallery.
