Looking for Screw-In Propane Monitor

Post by Marko Polo »

My B190 is incredible - had it three months and we've romped all over the midwest together. JUST now getting the kinks out. Here's one that's been buggin' me:

My propane tank has two wires dangling next to it. I'm told there is a screw-in sensor for the tank itself to connect it to the monitor inside the vehicle. This would be HUGELY helpful as I will be winter camping in the vehicle and monitoring propane will be something of a necessity. Any leads on where to find one? Rig is a 1994.

Thanks ya'll.

Is there a gauge on the tank? My wires connected to that gauge.

There is not - there is a threaded part where I assume the gauge goes. I have contacted Manchester and they no longer make or stock the part.

What's there now? Just a plug?

If they're not making it any more, then I'm not sure what you can do aside from looking for one in a junkyard.

My gauge doesn't work after screwing it in further to seal a leek. Since then I have had the Farrell gas guys look at it. I have the original unit, it has a sight gauge and the electrical connection and although it isn't produced anymore the guys at my local Farrell gas place told me they could order something that would work ($100.00 I think). I will be visiting them soon and get part numbers, price, and the like. My guess is your going to have to do like I have done and go to a local propane supplier and have one installed. They can readily take out your plug and install a sight gauge without the electrical sending unit part. It is finding a sending unit compatible that is the challenge and one to read the tank level on that size of tank. Hope this helps oh and the sight gauges are much more reasonably priced...

I've added a compilation of photos of my '96's propane tank and outside gauges/handles/etc. as a reference to look at in my Gallery (Buckeye).
