How does the monitor panel measure the propane?

Since I bought my 1990 b-van in December the monitor panel has always showed that the propane was full.

Well, I was trying figure out why my fridge was going out, and sure enough I just ran out of propane even though the monitor panel still shows the tanks as being full.

Anyone know what I should look for?

In mine, the propane tank has a gauge on it, and there are spade terminals on the gauge. There used to be wires running to it, but they disappeared - I suspect they fell at one point or another and a shop bundled them up out of the way somewhere. I think that's how it worked.

yep....slide under and check the wires

Two wires, one white and one orange...the white wire goes on the outside-terminal and the to ground.

There is also a clear-plastic mechanical gauge.

Thanks for the picture. I do have a clear plastic gauge on the propane tank. It had a nut on the front and bottom that I guess is for attaching the connection to the control panel, but I didn't see any wires in the area. I'll have to look around a bit more.
