Seat belts for dinette and restraints for pets.

My B190 is one of the rare ones with a dinette instead of a sofa. From reading posts here it appears that some of the sofa units have passenger seat belts. Does anyone know anything about seat belts in the dinette?

I plan to travel with 3 adults and 3 dogs. 2 small dogs and one large dog. Can anyone suggest how I make my dinette B190 safe for travel for everyone?

Hi Judith
We have a 92 with the couch. Our couch had the "jackknife" hardware removed, and the couch base modified, so I'm not sure if it is typical of others.

We have a trap door in the base that you can lift to access the void under the couch. The seatbelts are attached to the chassis in that void. I will pop out to the unit this morn and take some pictures.

Reorienting the belt attachment is something we are considering as we design a dinette to replace the couch. I'd love to see some pictures of your dinette setup. Do you think it's a factory option?

Thanks
Zach

I will have to get inside the dinette and look for any sign of connections to the chassis.

How do I attach a photo to a post?

Yes my B190 is one of the ones that came from the factory with a dinette, not a sofa. There is no sign of there ever being seat belts in the dinette. I'm going to have to figure something out.

We don’t have the dinette but you might be interested in our pet restraint solution.

We installed anchor points through the floor of the van, under the couch.
One of four anchors that are bolted to the floor and come up behind the couch.

There are four in total. We use them to attach to a restraint cable.
We attach a carabiner to a restraint cord that attaches to the dogs kennels.

Here are the two restraint cables attached at both ends to the anchor points. These cables are wrapped through the kennels at pre-existing points for a secure fit.
The two restraint cords are looped through the dog kennels, providing an excellent safety restraint.

Sorry the kennels are not in these photos but hopefully you can get the idea.

Chris,

That looks like a great set up for the dog kennels! I think I will put the dogs in harnesses and attach a restraint cable on the floor under the dinette for the 2 little dogs to sit up there on one side. Then attach a cable to where the driver seat belt is attached for the big dog so he can sit on the floor towards the front. I will ask the RV place to install the dinette restraint cables and seat belt as I am not sure how to do it correctly. Having more than 2 humans on board means I will need to put in a regular seat belt as well. The sofa seems better suited to strapped in passengers than my dinette does.
