Unpleasant experience Sept 17, 09

Post by zmartha »

Saw 2 ads from one dealer in Lynchburg, SC on rvtraderonline; called ahead of time, talked to owner, an older man, Don, several times about the 1998 and 1996 b190s he had for sale.
Told him I lived 900 miles away, and would like to see these b190s. He invited me down to look at them, said one's mileage was 37K and the other, 41K. Looked up the BBB rating--nothing against him.
Got my brother from another state to drive down here and take me there. Left Wed morning, raining most of way, tho saw some beautiful country in TN and NC. Talked to Don on phone again ( 3rd or 4th time) to be sure he had both vans. He said he did. I asked him to fire up the fridge and put in an ice cube tray with water so I could see that it worked okay.
Arrived Thurs early afternoon. Wife said both vans had been sold but had another 1996. It was in terrible shape--been baking in the sun for years so moldings pulled away from windows, etc. etc. Rough on inside--nearly 70K miles.
Most of the airstreams on lot were old.
Expensive and big disappointment in everything. Long trip home. You'd think at 65, I would have learned some things. (I forgot to see if they had the ice cube tray in the fridge or if it was even turned on.)
Today is Sept 19,09 and his two ads are still online.

That's pretty rude. Sorry to hear about your experience. :(

 So I am still looking for a low mileage, well taken care of B190. I like the B190 floor plan with the overhead bunk better than the newer Interstate Airstreams--and they are way too expensive for my budget anyway. I have never owned an Airstream and remember them from the time I was a kid.

Don't worry - they come up for sale pretty often. You'll find one!

I saw those listed as well. I can see forgetting to delete the adds after they sold but lying to someone about still having them is the sure sign of a con-man, be glad you didn't buy anything from him!

Lead ya on to get ya down there to look at the junker he had, maybe the other 2 didn't even exist, especially with those advertised miles.

Typical car lot people and bs...

I sold mine 3 weeks ago to a gentleman in North Carolina not a Don though a very nice couple. But before I even sold it I think he copied my ad and advertised it on his site with his phone number and no price. I think he was trying to buy it on ebay and find a buyer at a much higher price. Scam!
