Hi folks!
Well, I need a captain's chair passenger seat CABLE, the one that works for forward-backward movement of the seat. Ford says the part is obsolete. Maybe a needle in a haystack…please help. THANKS!

I don't think most 190s used Ford seats. Probably asking the wrong source. May have to have one custom made.

Thanks.
'I called Airstream and they said the rig has a Ford seat. I guess Ford did make captain's chairs for the E-vans. Seems the older B190s have trouble finding some parts and, as you note, stuff may have to be custom-made! Cash-cow time? Oh well...

You can always try eBay motors under parts and accessories. Ford dealer might be able to get you a part#.

Planck,
thanks again.
Airstream wrong, it's a Flexsteel cable. Ford verified it. Now I've got to see which part. More Internet homework!
Best,
Mike

Sometimes these cables can be repaired. What specifically is wrong with it. I had a malfunctioning swivel cable on the passenger seat. By looking under the seat I was able to see the problem and fix it.

Phil,

thanks for your advice. I might be able to repair it if needed. Actually the issue is about a 1993 B190 I'm buying from a dear friend. It looks like he or his skilled wife will take care of the cable. I sent him this site http://www.coachsupplydirect.com/rv-pro ... ing-parts/ in case it might help the effort. If it won't, it becomes jury-rig time!
Thanks again.

The recliner handle on my 92 flexsteel chair broke this summer. I"ve been using a pair of pliers to pull the cable. I contacted flexsteel to see if they had a replacement part and they don't so I'll try to epoxy it back together. Not sure if it will work. Anyone have any thoughts?

I would try RV wrecking yards to see if any of their RVs have Flexsteel seats. Doubt epoxy will work with that load.

Yeah, it would have to be NASA quality epoxy for space missions.
I'm buying a 1993 B190 with 29000 miles. Do you think parts overall are a big problem for a rig this old?

I've replaced the side stove vent, the top sewer/water vent, and the bathroom fan, all parts still available online. Also had the generator overhauled without a problem. And all the Ford parts should still be available for a while as both the engines and E van models were manufactured for a number of years.

Many are available in 10/2014. And Ford can search US dealerships for parts still sitting in bins. The parts guy has to be willing to search for you.
