Carpet cleaning

Post by glennis »

I have a 1994 B190 and in the past have spot cleaned the carpet. I am considering renting or buy a carpet shampooer to do the job, any suggestions?

We have one of the home shampooers, and I used it on our B190's carpet once (before we removed the carpet entirely). It did make it look better, but it wasn't magic. Due to the small size of the camper, keep in mind you'll probably be using a furniture brush or something like that, rather than the full carpet head.

From what I've read on the net the problem is the floorboards. I don't know what sort of flooring the 190's have but the danger is getting the wood wet and having mold or warping to deal with. Do you folks have any knowledge on this?

When I pulled up the carpet after shampooing it (not immediately...I mean, I shampooed, then several months or even a year or two later pulled the carpet entirely), I didn't see ANY spots of what looked like it had been wet, even where I know the sink leaked on the floor. It was plywood in mine. Obviously too much water WILL damage the wood at some point, but particle board is much worse than plywood for that issue I think.

Ok, I'll assume that the floor is plywood in my 1994 as well. I think I will go ahead and either buy or rent a small shampooer Thank you for your replies.
