top bunk

Post by Wanderlost »

So, would anyone know if there is a max weight for the top bunk? Or to reinforce w3/8" plywood for two adults. I would think max 400 lbs.
Thanks

I don't know of a max weight, but there've been other couples who sleep up there. It doesn't seem like it'd be that strong, but then again it's resting on the original roof of the Ford van, which has to be able to deal with rollover crashes I assume. (At least, my '91's bunk is over the roof the van, and the roof is still there - it's visible when I take down the light between the front seats.)

My husband and I both use the top bunk, total combined weight approx. 270 lbs. I think I saw somewhere that you shouldn't exceed 300 lbs.
