Upgrading Front Seats?

Post by MalcolmS » Wed Sep 19, 2018 10:59 am

Has anyone here upgraded their front seats? Or has someone considered doing so and has done some research? I'm not talking covers but complete higher-end swiveling seats?
When we sit on the seats they feel comfortable but long trips result in some back and neck pain.
I know they would be expensive but I'm willing if it makes a big difference.

Yes we have I've had some issues with the flex steel release handles started looking for replacement parts or seats. Unfortunately in three years I haven't found the parts but I did find a good sorce for replacement seats.
Hope this helps...

Thanks!

I did purchase from them. We bought a set of captain chairs and the matching jack knife couch, about a year ago. They are wonderful and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

If anyone replaces the seats I will buy all the arms off the old ones looking for these handles and cables.
Thanks

However, I should note, the captain chairs bolt to the original pedestals very nicely, but the couch is not a 'plug and play'. It did take a little work (and time) to secure the couch over the furnace and rear wheel well. But once it lines up correctly, its wonderful.

Here's a couple more photos of the front seats we installed. Each seat comes with a second armrest but I still haven't decided if I want to attach them.

Thanks for posting these! Replacing our captain's chairs is something I'd like to do at some point (though it's waaaay down on the list), so it was great to see how those turned out.

Wow the front seats and jackknife sofa look great! I was going to order a jackknife from them but when I called they told me there would be a problem with cutting off the legs to put on top of the current base. How did you manage this? Did you remove the base and just use the legs? What about the one where the legs are over the wheel well? It looks in the photo that you bent that leg.

It really was an easy fix. I used only the frame which came with the jack knife I purchased from them. I took a hacksaw and cut the elbow (right angle) out of the leg and then took a piece of flat iron and bent it to match the contour of the wheel wheel. I bolted it to both ends of the frame I cut and then directly to the wheel well. its very solid and worked like a champ. I am happy to share any other photos but due to size and amount, send your request to my email at agb@CompsNW.com.

I ran out and tried to take a couple more photos but it is off limit to me as my wife is packing it for this weekend. It's our last race of the season and we leave in the early am. Here are a couple 'blind' photos, if they help.
