B190 Enthusiasts

Just wondering if anyone would like to share any security measures they have taken to keep their B190 safe.

I am considering a Club steering wheel device, locking lug nut, and perhaps a hidden fuel pump "kill" switch.

It seems like people ignore the good old car alarm these days and I would hate to have it go off at a campsite/RV park while I was away - not sure if it's really effective these days.

Maybe a couple of sharks with friggen lasers mounted on their heads would do the trick.

Unfortunately thieves have figured out most anti theft device's. The club they cut the steering wheel and its off. Break lock just a cordless reciprocating saw its done.
My favorite is a Deadman switch. You install you only know where it is and you can use several toggle switches together to confuse them even more also a power shutoff under the hood might help to the starter while keeping the alarm powered.
Nothing is fool proof but if it slows them down its a plus.

This is going to sound harsh but I think one of the best deterrents is the fact that they're so old and specialized. Parts for Ford vans are cheap, so there's not really a market there.

Not saying it can't happen, of course, but I just don't think it's a popular target.

As we will be driving though Central and South America we have thought about security a bit. Our number one concern was belongings being stolen from the van, rather than the actual van itself. We got an alarm installed, with keyless entry, which is just great to have. We also installed a safe bolted to the floor, where the furnace used to be. We installed a hidden door in the bottom of the wardrobe, then put four bolts through the steel floor of the van. We've been very happy with it.
