furnace

Post by Choptop »

per previous owner, it is electronic and all I should have to do is turn gas on, turn on little control close to floor in the bathroom, gas detector and set thermostat and it should come on. Got a little scream noise, a couple of times from little controller but no fan /furnace kicking on ?

Furnace works, not sure whether or not I wasn't waiting long enough, brain fart or whatever. on the bottom of the thermostat is a lever that says off, you can push it to the right which I can't remember if I did that before but it started this time, I take it that the lever is for the furnace and is the on and off.
We are taking a 3 - 4 hour trip up to Bayfield wi and then take the ferry over to Madeline island for the day and then take the ferry back and spend the night some were. I know it will be cold for the sig other so I wanted to make sure the furnace worked. According to my monitor, my battery is weak, I take it that the fan will be hard ,overnight, on a weak battery , maybe I should consider a new one ?

Yep, exactly - the lever switches it off. Also, you figured this out, but I'll mention it in case others are confused - it can take 30 seconds or more for it to start running once the thermostat calls for heat.

Yeah, the furnace will hit the battery pretty hard. I'm not sure what the draw actually is, but I wouldn't go into a cold night with a weak battery.

Thanks Skater, going to look for a new battery today or look at some camp sites along the lake that I could plug into. I don't know which I am looking more forward to, the whine of the furnace or the whine of the S.O. when it gets cold. :(

A number of nice campgrounds near our destination, right on the Lake Superior shoreline, plan on staying at one and plugging in. One even has a casino ! :D
