1990 Airstream Camper Van

Post by beaniecounter68 »

I could use some of your wisdom. I have found a 1990 Airstream Camper Van for sale:

https://kpr.craigslist.org/rvs/d/1990-a ... 24284.html

Assuming the link I just posted works, you will see that this is a tan Okanagan RV. I have received a photocopy of the title which states the make is Airstream. I plan to go look at it tomorrow but was hoping for some input from your membership before I make the long road trip.

Will I be able to join WBCCI with this rig? I have emailed & phoned several people with WBCCI with this question and have not received an answer yet.
Anyone in this club of enthusiasts have any experience with this year & model or RV?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, you should be able to join WBCCI.

I’m surprised a 1990 would still have the Okanagan lettering though.

Thank you so much for your information. Assuming the mountain pass is open tomorrow, I will be headed over tomorrow to test drive and look it over.

Thanks again,
Andrea

This look much like my 89 version on the outside but with a slightly different interior. the stove is two burner and shelves undeerneath rather than 4 burners with an oven, and there is an extra drawer next to the sink under the counter. Good luck on the test run.

The oven with the four-burner stove was optional - if you didn't get that, you got a cabinet there. I'm not sure about that other extra drawer though.

I think I led you astray. I was under the impression that Okanagan stopped making B vans after Airstream purchased the design (and this one was a weird fluke), but after WBCCI contacted me this evening to confirm, I did a little more digging and found that Okanagan continued to make B vans throughout the 90s (and in fact had the same style at least as late as 2003).

Here are a few examples.

Given that, I may be wrong about it being allowed in WBCCI. I’m sorry.

Skater - No worries. I see it as all a part of my learning experience. Since this was so important to me (that this B190 was actually Airstream per the title) I forced the issue by applying for membership with WBCCI. I had also emailed them on March 23rd about it. Having submitted an application for membership seems to have stirred up a bit of a kerfuffle. I guess I wasn't the only one confused about the Okanagan/Airstream relationship.

Needless to say, I did not purchase this van.

Asking out of curiosity/ignorance, not sarcasm, but why does WBCCI eligibility matter to you? I know it’s a thing and they have gatherings, but what makes it a dealbreaker?
