How much do these really weigh?

Post by MalcolmS »

I'm having some custom suspension being designed and built for my B190. The shop wants to know how much these B190s weigh fully loaded? I have a 1995 with the 460.
I looked at the spec sheets for the 1995 which tells be 9400 lb. GVWR E-350 Cargo but this is a vehicle weight rating not the actual overall weight, or is it?
It then says 7600 lb. approx weight with fuel but this is for the standard build with the 351 engine not the 460.

If I look at the 1996 specs they are more detailed than the 1995 specs but confusing as they separate the front & rear GVWR ratings (4200 & 6,084) which don't equal the total GVWR rating listed at 9400.
It does however also specify a UVW with fuel (unloaded) rating of 8000.

So does anyone know how much these weigh loaded up?
The shop wanted me to take it to a scale and weigh it twice. Once fully on the scale for an overall weight, and again with only the back end on the scale so they could determine the back-end weight and specify the custom rear leaf springs. I have some things on the motor apart right now so I'm unable to bring it to a scale at this time.

Anyone have this info they can share?

Thank you!

I've always heard about 9,000 lbs - 6,000 on the rear axle (which you'll note is near the upper limit of the two tires, hence the 80 psi recommendation), and 3,000 on the front.

If it's critical, it wouldn't be that hard to take it to a scale and weigh it.

I doubted the GVWR of my '94 and a few years ago when on the road I checked it on a scale. It was 9500 pounds.

Think I will make sure the tires are always at 80psi now! So, much to learn about this B-190. Have gone on several different trips recently and the camper did so well but, need to make sure the tires can handle the load.
