Antenna/Cable TV questions and answers

Post by skater »

Do we have a TV antenna?

Yes, it doubles as the luggage rack on the roof. (Well, more properly, the luggage rack doubles as the antenna.) The general consensus is that it's not very good with reception.

What is the switch mounted in the cutout on the rear wall control panel?

This allows you to select an input source for the cable connection. Sliding it one way (up in mine) selects the cable connection (which is outside, curbside, near the water heater access panel) or the antenna.

Note: Later models don't have this switch. The jack on the wall will use the antenna if no signal is available from the cable. (I believe it relies on the cable TV signal drowning out the antenna signal, though I could be wrong.)

What is the black switch next to the coax cable jack?

This turns the booster for the antenna on; the red light on that panel indicates it's on.
