Post by skater »

How many B190s were made?

Here are the production numbers from Airstream for the B190 (note we're missing a few years; if you have this information please let us know!):
  • 1991: 112
  • 1992: 90
  • 1993: 225
  • 1994: 158
  • 1995: 173
  • 1996: 170
  • 1997: 112
  • 1998: 56
  • 1999: 46
  • Total: 1142

Edit: We've also been able to confirm at least two B190s were produced on the Chevrolet chassis.

Where is my Airstream VIN?

The Airstream VIN is usually on a plate under the engine hood. It should start with "1B9", indicating it's an Airstream B-van. Be careful not to confuse this with the vehicle VIN, which is mounted in the windshield (as in all cars and trucks) and is created by Ford (and starts with "1F" if you have a Ford chassis). Also, most owners' manuals have a number written on the front, which is the sequence number for the Airstream VIN. If you only have that, I can probably figure out the rest of the VIN from that.

The only use I've ever had for my Airstream VIN was when I joined WBCCI. If you were to call Airstream with a question about the camper, they would want your Airstream VIN as well. Also, I'm building a database of B190s, and I like to have both VINs for that. If you'd like to help, see this thread.

What did the B190s cost new?

Alaskan reports his 1991 sticker price was something like $54,000.

Craigmar reports his 1991 base price was $38,678.
His options (2 bkw onan generator, t.v. booster with cable, 460 cu engine, towing package, driver power seat, 4 burner stove with oven, trailer towing mirror pkg, 11,000 btu air with optional heater, and flexsteel seat package) were $5,099.
Total cost, including destination charges, was $44,377.

From this thread. If you have information for other years, please send a PM to skater or post in that thread, and we will add it to this FAQ. Thanks!

What are the dimensions of the camper?

Interior:
From the floor to the bottom of the roof a/c is 6'
From the floor to the ceiling at the back of the RV is 6'2"
From the floor to the ceiling at the front of the RV is 6'6"
The couch is 5'9" long
The overhead bed is 6' across the width of the RV but is 6'6" lengthwise
The clearance from the foam mattress to the ceiling is 20"

Exterior:
The overall width of the RV is 8'4" because of the mirrors, the mirrors themselves are 12" each.
The overall length of RJ's 1991 is 18'6", including the spare tire and front bumper.
The overall height with the air conditioner is 9' 11", and the highest point is the air conditioner.
The overall height without the air conditioner is 9' 5", and the highest point is the Fantastic Fan near the front of the camper.

Most of these are from a 1996 B190 advertisement. Thanks to B190fan for the idea and the information.
