Length of the rigs?

Post by skater »

Someone sent me a private message with this question, and it seemed like a good one to post here for future reference:

How long are our rigs?

The official length of our rigs is 19 feet (hence the "19" in "B190").

Out of curiosity, I grabbed my tape measure and measured mine. I didn't have help, so I had to eyeball it (put the tape on the ground and visually line it up with the bumpers). However, this method yielded a length of about 18 feet 8 inches from bumper to bumper, and the spare tire on the back adds another 6 inches or so to mine. Note it's possible years with different van body styles are slightly different.

For reference and comparison, the newer B-vans from Airstream, based on the Sprinter chassis, are 22 feet long officially (I haven't measured one to get an 'actual' measurement, and I'm too lazy to look it up).
